Amp assignment for denon avr

FYI I’m currently looking to buy a external power amp for my denon x7200  ‘s 7.1.4 setup. 
 

Would anyone know if I connect a external 3 channel amp to my LCR , can I free up my internal left and right channel or other internal channel for the height 2 ?

From the manual , I could only find that for 7.1.4 , I need to connect external channel amp for the height 2 preout

Yes, you can do that. It takes the load off the Amp as well. But X7200 need an external amp for another pair of heights/Atmos speakers.
