Hi all

Looking to update my living setup to focus on stereo.

I’m using Arcam AVR450 w just B&W CM6 S2 now for both music and TV.

Not really watching movies but more Netflix and YouTube.

My requirements are mainly these:

1. Need HDMI ARC w CEC input to integrate w my tv

2. Airplay + DLNA (with the usual streaming features like tidal/Spotify will be a plus)

3. Room correction features as I don’t have room treatment

4. Able to drive my B&W CM6 S2 (and maybe the Buchardt S400 later on as they seem quite hyped up)

I’m considering 3 options and my budget is about 2-4K to upgrade/get the amp/streamer

Option A: Arcam SR250 + Bluesound Node 2i  ~3k

Option B: Lyngdorf TDAI 1120 ~3.4k

Option C: Nad M10 ~3.9k

I haven’t had the chance to listen to these options yet.

(planning to for option B & C, A cannot as is overseas import)

Wondering if the bros here got any feedback or suggestions (even outside of these options).

Edit: forgot to add music genres. Mostly listen to mandopop, jazz, bossa and orchestral music.

Thanks all!

You can also consider Yamaha A-S1200/A-S2200/A-S3200.  You can now book for an audition at Plaza Singapura just in case you are interested.  They have info in their Facebook page.  The caveat is, it is only for pre-order and shipping is end of July or early August.  Pre-order free gift is a CD player with streamer.

Have you considered the Naim Atom? I think they will be a good synergy with your B&W. It might be in the 4K mark if I remember it right.

I find the Atom a good unit but I’m not sure the sound signature is a good match for B&W.

It doesn’t have room correction either.

I’d suggest trying the new Arcam SA30. Sounds incredible with the Class G amp and has oodles if power reserve. It has HDMI ARC and DIRAC.

Roon streamer compatible and DLNA.

ESS9038 DAC.

yes actually i've been also considering uniti atom and star (which as a bonus can replace my cd player too) and wonder if they can sound better than say lyngdorf even without sound correction.

As for Arcam i saw AVone pushing the SA10 and SA20 heavily but havent seen the SA30 around in SG. will look into it and check out the price too.

just tried the m10; feel like the Dirac didn't sound that much different and i actually thought bluesound powernode sounds fuller with the LS50 on demo.

Hi all,

Any updates to this? Am in the same situation and have narrowed it down to the Naim Atom and the 1120, the 1120 edging out for the RoomPerfect correction.

A buddy of mine bought this recently and really likes the amp. I find it to be on the warm side of neutral. It is not the most detailed amp out there but it should do well for most speakers. The only problem I have with it is that the usability is horrible. The mconnect software is so bad that my friend only uses Chromecast to play tidal. Also it it is not a roon certified device. It was one big lie that Arcam made and it has escalated badly in their forums. If they can fix the software, I think this could be a good amp for those who want a one box musical solution. He has not tried the Dirac yet so cant comment.

Arcam is not Roon ready. Can only use Roon via Chromecast. Also Roon will require another device so it’s not ideal for him. Thankfully tidal connect is expected to come to Arcam so that should fix his concern. Also for people who only stream from the cloud, Roon is not relevant.

It is waiting for Roon certification. Roon actually sees it as Roon ready but as of end Sep 2020, you can't enable it until Roon certification is complete
