these are my thoughts after the end of S1

 

I am going to guess the "freeware" version that Nathan "stole" and sold to Ingrid's dad.. has been repurposed

 

The upgrade that was performed on the LakeView servers introduced more human concierge characters.. they aren't really AI.. they are real people being uploaded and made into indentured labor..

 

Thats my theory anyway
