InnocentBlood Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 hi guys, are any of you currently using 3.5" SATA Enclosure? I am looking for one that can support 14TB drives such as the WD DC HC530. the ones that I have come across say they support up to 10TB only. have any of you had experience using a 3.5" SATA enclosure for drive capacities higher than what it says on the specs sheet?
Audio Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I used a lot of these enclosures before and never realized that there is a limit to the drive capacity. To me, these are just devices that gathered all your HDD together. A 4-drive enclosure still have 4 SATA connectors behind, only one or two power connectors are needed to power up the enclosure. I would say it is still safe to put in 14TB drives. I believe the ability to support higher drive capacity is still dependent on your PC which this enclosure is attached to. (Audio)
