malsound Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 The best things, one can hope for is company like luxman or Ortofon will buy over some of their machinary and take over from there.

Their explanation is that they lost many experience artisans due to their age and their precious equipment is getting too old and become expensive to maintain. Hence the business is no longer healthy especially during this covid19 affected the order and workforce. Even someone have to take over, it may not be useful unless they just buy out the brand first.

Agree... their equipment is getting old and expensive to maintain is a very serious matter for anyone wanting to take over the business... still I sincerely hope the Jelco brand can carry on.

Ah! poor excuse to say that mechanical maintenance is costly repair. If it was electronic equipment I would agree. With this Coron-19 virus many companies are finding excuses to terminate business. If they are finding hard to sell there products. Artisans can always be found it's a matter of salary and product business and sales. Just one more company in the dumps just like SME. The turntable business has saturated. It's not the same like in the 50's to the 70's.
Joseph Lazaroo Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Any news our agent clearing the Jelco stocks? Ah! Fat hopes my friend. The local agent would never dump there Jelco products for cheap's. Only if there was an agent change.

Yes, if they find the young artisan to do the job, their salary will be higher and the sales price of the arm will raise and that defeat the purpose as the oem business will not work since the end product will become too expensive for the arm like a Linn Arm. But i still hope they can continue their business since S-Arm is getting less due to more complex machining over straight arm.
