Chowbotak Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 My KK 12012 no sound. On aldy with line in cable plugged out the light stays green. I took out the fuse from the slot under the power socket I see that the fuse was not blown. What's the problem? ??? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Chowbotak Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Err So are repair guys allowed to make house calls during this period?;D Everyday hear music sianz must watch some movies. Now only watch concerts
pcking1624705747 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Have you verified if your line in signal is ok ?
Chowbotak Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Yes, in fact now when I plugged line in, there's a loud hum
pcking1624705747 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 What I meant is you have to confirm the line in signal into your sub is working fine. If you can't, then you can use signal out from a confirmed working source, e.g. Mobilephone earphone jack or CD Player rca line out that are confirmed working to plug into your sub line in.
Chowbotak Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Er bro, u mean that I check if the line in cable is working?
pcking1624705747 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Yes. If you can confirm that the line in signal is ok, at least the issue is definitely the sub. ;D
Chowbotak Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Thanks bro. Will do that as soon as I can. Both my HT subs bo sia and both fuse also not blown, of all time, during lockdown ;D
pcking1624705747 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 If both subs also no sound then very unlikely that both subs are faulty. ;) Are both subs having inputs coming from the same source ?
Chowbotak Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 I don't know why but after reading your last post where u commented "cannot be both subs not working" a thought came into my head. Could it be some cables were not plugged in properly? Since my dear wife was not watching the telly and I have been listening to the hifi the whole bloody day, I tot I shd do some inspection on the subs. Never know why I did not check the power connection when my Rythmik could not power on so I decided to. Holy sheet, my dear wife, who has been WFH in the living room has actually pulled out the plug of the power cable feeding the Rythmik. So it can power on after all! Then, with much effort, changed the subwoofer line cable. Fcuk, still no sound. And it got worse from there. Now my amp could not detect my bd player. Changed the hdmi cable. Still as fcuked as ever. And I haven't even checked on the KK. Feeling a little drained, I fcuked off to bed and here I am typing this. Goodnight ;D
kopidilo Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 agreed w PCking. Re-check the connection between your AVR/Amp to your subs. If you have spare RCA sub cables, you can use it to troubleshoot too. Check that sub's gain knob is not at ZERO volume too. Are u using AVR or an amp? What model/ brand? Does your AVR/amp have radio? If have radio, can play some bassy music to verify if your subwoofer cone is vibrating. And if it's an AVR, - what sound mode are you using when you did the tests? Certain modes for music will just play your speakers as LARGE and bypass the sub totally. - Check your AVR that the subs is enabled in the speaker config settings.
Chowbotak Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 Many thanks bro. I have aldy changed the cable. Still no sound from the sub. It's an old cable from the store room so I'm not 100% sure its working;D Sub's vol is at 11 o clock. Yah I'll go thru the av amp's settings again even tho I'm pretty sure I didnt changed anything. Stranger still is the av amp could not detect the bd player. Changed hdmi cable still the same. Amp can output the media player tho. Well, once in a while this kind of things will happen in my HT. Spinning vinyls now ;D
kopidilo Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I see. Strange. So both your Rythmik and KK sub have green light on the amp? Which brand and model of avr r u using? Are your subs enabled in your speaker config menu?
Chowbotak Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 Onkyo 820. Will check tonight. Thanks bro ;D
rock123 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Yes, in fact now when I plugged line in, there's a loud hum bro i did have such issue with a sub b4 , AMP plate is green colour always. swap sub cables also no bass output at all. Almost give up it's until i adjust the RCA sub cable a bit then i realise there's a SUB pop noise. It the connection issue! Do try to adjust the sub cable contact area into the LFE in portion of u sub too. It could be the grip @rca connection. Just 2 cents here thanks.

Especially when you use cheapo sub cable or Y-adaptor.. you can feel it when you insert your RCA cable.. loose (not tight) that's why there is a weak grip, easy to move (loosen up) when the sub is vibrating. My experience was 'opposite' of yours... my sub was suddenly ka-boom so loud. Simple test: Usually, you will hear soft 'pop' when you ON/OFF the subwoofer, indicate your sub is working

Your mention below is a very good observation quoted: there is a weak grip, easy to move (loosen up) when the sub is vibrating.
Chowbotak Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 Absolutely bros! I have encountered this long ago and solved it. Yes I am still using cheapo cable and y connecters ;D Any recommendations for good ones? Am using a Monster u connector and the cable is a Canare. Thanks bros!
econav Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 For both Rythmik and KK sub, to confirm both sub are still working … 1) set both to auto to allow it to detect incoming signal. 2) remove any input cable RCA/XLR to the sub. 3) Set vol/level to around 12ock. 4) Insert main and Power on the Sub and wait for 20 mins, the LED indicator will turn to RED ( standby mode ). 5) Find a pc of metal/copper wire holding the tip and insert to the center hole of the RCA connector , by now the sub in standby mode will be activated by ac hum noise injected from your finger and LED should turn Green. a) if LED turn green and hum sound is output from the sub , then your sub is working. b) if LED turn green and the sub did not produce any hum noise, can try increase the gain/level/vol on the sub and if still no hum noise , then the amp section on of the sub have issue and need to repair/replace. c) now you can connect your RCA to the sub and by only use the finger touching the center pin of the RCA cable on the other end , you should also hear the same hum noise else this RCA center wire that connect both side of the pins OC. Good luck
Chowbotak Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 Bro, I have previously done the switching on, removing input cable and waiting for led to turn red for the KK but the led did not turn red. Not sure if I have set it to auto tho. Will try this on both tonight. Thanks bro!
pcking1624705747 Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 If you don't sent it to Auto, it will always be green bcos it will never go into standby mode. :P Bro, I have previously done the switching on, removing input cable and waiting for led to turn red for the KK but the led did not turn red. The other day, with line in there was a loud hum. Does that means sub is working? ;D Maybe I shd change the cable and the y connector. Any recommendations?
Chowbotak Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 Ok, the Rythmik is working fine. Low pass selection on sub was AVR whereas on my av amp I selected sub. Swear I didnt touch it.;D Will check on the KK when I'm free. Thanks so much guys! Update KK is fine too, light turns red after 15 min or so ;D
