petetherock Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I notice a variety of streaming devices available in the market, including the Apple TV. Many offer 4k upscaling, very nice DACs and some allow hard disc storage. But what confuses me is where do you all get your content? For the Apple TV it's simple, you buy / rent content from the iTunes website, and pay for it. I know of sites like Netflix, and if you have VPN, there are sites like Vudu and other sites and of course now AppleTV, and Amazon also offer streaming. So no one buys Blu Ray? Really? Is everyone streaming lossy content here? I will be surprised.. after all that $$$ we spend on our systems, and we resort to lossy Dolby Digital content, or compressed Atmos? Can bros share what they are using please? Thanks
Duaashish Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Stream Torrents on Kodi. 4k. HDR. Atmos. Everything is there. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6000 using Tapatalk

Guest wcseow Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I prefer disc, especially for those movies that I am very interested in. Probably a lot less now since my lobang to bring much cheaper BR from Australia is gone. I have Netflix and Prime, and probably will go for Apple TV+ soon and Disney+ when available.
Duaashish Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Is that legal? And that's still lossy isn't it? Some files can go upto 70gb per movie; those are bluray rips. What we stream on Netflix is lossy infact. Anything with Atmos and 4k HDR will be minimum 15gb. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6000 using Tapatalk

So if you have a 500 disc collection, that's a lot of space.. and if the file gets corrupted, that's not good either..

petetherock Posted January 8, 2020 Author Posted January 8, 2020 Sensitive topic here Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk My question is whether these ‘sensitive’ sites give lossless high quality streaming? On the front page of this HT section for example we see discussions on at least three such streamers, with pretty high end components Using a lossy source is such a waste especially after all that hard work to calibrate

chaozhoi Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Not sure if it's really 1:1.. someone mentioned playing from disc gives better PQ as compared to a full ripped mkv. Anyway side note, can try the new Gemini Man 60fps 4k. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

htng Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 But kodi streaming is limited. Any good stream?
Goldberg Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 For sure sound quality from Bluray disc is better & more solid than streaming from 4k Apple TV for my case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
