The January 2013 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again at Dence Park for an afternoon of fine music and sound and convivial company.

Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

This month we will have a vinyl based system comprised of Club member components. The turntable and amps will be provided by two members. The amps will be DIY integrated amps with 60-80 wpc. Another member is providing 3 phono-stages: the VTL Deluxe (MM, tubed), the Conrad Johnson Motif MC-7 and the Audio Alchemy VAC-in-the-box. These phono-stages will be pitted against each other in a shootout – we’ll have what will no doubt be an interesting exploration and discussion of the sonic merits of these different phonostages. The speakers will be the Code 5 speakers from Grover Notting. We’ve had the Code 5 speakers at the club before and they were very well received. We may have a member’s pair of Acoustic Research AR92 speakers instead – TBD at this time.

The second half of the music sessions will be BYO. The phono-stage voted best in the first session will be used throughout our BYO session. Sources for the entire meeting will be vinyl. Sorry, no digital media this month. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite records. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind.

Members and Guests welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. We will welcome you at the door.

Venue: Epping Creative Centre
Address: 26 Stanley St, Epping

Doors open 1pm
Meeting starts at 2pm

Best regards,

Vinyl only - cool. For you digital guys I am happy to take request for vinyl to bring along, so you still get a chance to listen to some interesting music of your choice. But remember it must be interesting.

Look forward to hearing these phono stages as I have not heard any of them

Perhaps..depends what TT/arm/cart combo's are being used, and if I want to hear them. Not to excited about a phono shoot out...fairly pointless exercise I would have thought - unless you happen to own the contextual system. Bloody different phono's - all depending which cart is suited to which phono, I would have thought.

Hey Viognier, you can throw in another track of your choice on my behalf / turn if you wish. Feeling a little left out with no digital playback today, so I'll might as well be somebodies proxy for the day.

See you guys there.
