Hi, does anybody have or listened to the SVS Ultra Bookshelf Speakers? They aren't widely available yet and there is not much information of substance that I have found on the internet as yet. If they have, what are your impressions, comments etc?

I will be listening at these in the next couple of weeks with an SVS sub and a NAD T748 AVR.

If all good, this will be my home music set up (2.1) and for movies I have an additional 3 Polk Audio speakers to add for 5.1 HT listening.

I am hoping this will provide an excellent music listening for home in a large room as this has been an issue for me in the past and this is the problem I am really trying to solve. I am pretty sure already it will be great for HT.

Room dimensions (solid brick house): living area is 12m wide x 5m long and the speakers and sub will sit along 1 wall of the 5m long rectangular room.

Are they available in Aus i thought the ones the local supplier had were a bit different or from a different series?

It was Deep Hz Audio who let me know of these speakers and said that they thought they had only been available in Australia so far as they had the initial production run.

This is my reason for posting to try and find out a bit more about how they perform, the description and model name and link above are correct from everything I have been advised. The price is a fair bit different as we don't get them at the US prices unfortunately.

I am not sure why they wouldn't be shown on their website as yet.

Deep Hz should be pretty close to the US pricing given what i've seen so far from their subwoofers. I'd think they would be decent speakers, but for the money i'd wonder if they could be beaten by something like the Usher S520 which you'll get for about $320, around half the price of the SVS speakers. The remaining money could be used to purchase the S525 centre channel, you'll now have a tonal matching front stage for HT duties also, as aposed to using your existing Polk centre speaker. The Polks could be used for rears and if you were really keen a second set of 520's could be purchased at a later date.

The SVS subs are very good for the money and i understand they would reccomend one of their own speakers to be paired with it, personally however i'd just buy the sub from them. The T748 is supposed to be a cracker for the money and probably the best AVR under a grand.

Thanks, I had a quick listen to the Usher s520s the other day but it was with music/environment I was unfamiliar with and had no control over so I didn't get much of a feel for them (although they sounded okay), I am hoping to get an opportunity to have another listen in the next week or so in a more controlled environment so I can get a better sense of them. I am hoping this will give me a better comparison with the SVS Ultra Bookshelves when I eventually hear them.

Thanks for the feedback on the T748 as i am about to purchase one and I have had a listen and seems really good so far, another listen to follow soon. At this stage its the SVS sub that has driven me down the path of trying the SVS Ultra Bookshelves.
