Mr_Gadget Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Hi guys, seems like my ME amp has a problem. It is causing an intermittent static type noise through the speakers. Nothing has changed in my system to cause this and I have done some process of elimination to come to my conclusion as the amp causing the problem. What could be causing this? Who do you guys recommend to take a look and fix the problem (Melbourne). Also I've noticed that the fan is a bit squeeky when turning it off. Thanks, hopefully its nothing too expensive to fix otherwise might consider an Emotiva XPA-3. 1
gat474 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Get the ME fixed, it will smoke the xpa2, I know this as I've compared the 550 ml2 to an xpa2. The ME was a fair bit better. Winovate in Melbourne repair ME.
georgehifi Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I don't know if Winovate are authorised to do repairs themselves on the original ME products. Better safe than sorry and get Trevor Wilson (Rage Audio) up here is Sydney as he is the authorised ME repairer, he goes by Zaphod Beeblebrox on these forums and I sure without a doubt he will respond to this thread. Cheers George

Cheers George I'm not sure about their authorisation but I think they bought the bulk of Peter Stein's stock of parts when he sold up. I figure they'll likely have the bits needed. I had them do a small repair on a 550 mk1 and although they were slow they had a terrific 'musuem' of parts and did get the job done, eventually. Trevor would be an excellent choice but there's the postage issues.
Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Winovate are the best guys in Melbourne.
hired goon Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Are there any ME repair dudes in BrisVegas? I've got an issue with my ME240 ... --Geoff
Mr_Gadget Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Thanks for the responses, after doing my head in last night disconnecting and then reconnecting everything (and making the crackle sound worse) its seems to have fixed itself this morning! I'll keep an ear out for the likely return of the problem and keep Winovate in mind.

Cost would not be onerous.
