unclemack Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 I (finally) finished watching The Shield last night...Harrowing to say the least. What a magnificent cop show. Just shows that network TV can be the equal of the cable giants like Showtime and HBO when they take a few risks. One of the best I've seen. Cheers M
metal beat Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 I agree, I watched it start to finish mid year and was hooked for several months watching it on Fox. How Shane and his family ended up was haunting. How Vic ended up was hilarious in its own way, everything he never wanted to be.

It was Shakespearean in it's tragedy... Vic Mackey...what a great character...
soundfan Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 My mate lent me his dvd box set, but I couldn't get past season 1. Just too unrealistic for me, how those guys could continually get away with the stuff they did. Unbelievable. Is the rest of the series much the same?
Grumpy Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Loved it all although a little rough at times for me . Loved the 'desk job' ending . But didn't we see this all on FTA TV last year?

Can't be bothered with FTA. they schedule so poorly that the lure of DVD boxsets becomes irresistable. That last scene, Vic's facial expression...gold!

LogicprObe Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 i started watching this series today. so far its ok and i hope it gets better The first ep didn't shock you somewhat?
Goatboy Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Loved the Shield. Vic Mackey is such a well written grey character. Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy and Battletar Galactica have similar themes - morally ambiguous characters living in communities under threat.
