Talk Talk-Colour Of Spring Japanese Re-issue

Featured Replies

I bought a load of stuff today from Redeye in town and saw and bought a new Japanese re-issue of Talk Talk's superb lp, The Colour Of Spring. I thought it might have been just a one off but when i went to the counter they took my copy out of the rack with a load of others so there must be a few around and they might be making it to a record shop near to you. This re-issue comes as a double lp with the second lp being 3 b-sides and 3 live tracks.

I know there are quite a few fans of this album here so i thought i would just post a heads up. Avoid it, it's rubbish. The vinyl is less than quiet and is an unpleasant surprise as Japanese vinyl in the times of mass production was by far the best you could get. The sonics of the album are as dull as dishwater with a very compressed soundstage and the whole thing is quite soporific and played at bedtime is guaranteed to send you off into the arms of Morpheus.I kept on turning it up to get some life into the damn thing but to no avail. I played my EMI 100 re-issue afterwards from the 2000s and you would swear it was a different recording.

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like the pathetic bada bing Talk Talk reissues on vinyl.

The 2012 EMI vinyl reissue is awesome.

Pity I have the original--Fine Album

That's no good. I bought a reissue from red eye only 6 months or so ago and it is as good as my original copy. It was a single record but came with a cd version as a freebie. Later I got laughing stock as a reissue and that was fine as well. Both weren't Japanese pressings. I am hoping that they might rerelease Marks solo efforts.

I have the original of Mark Hollis's solo lp and it's very good. It was re-issued recently but i don't know how good it is. Shane makes mention of the poor Bada Bing Talk Talk reissues so maybe the Hollis is just as crook if it's them who reissued it.

I ordered the reissue of Laughing Stock but the distributor sent a bootleg, an abomination of a double album on noisy coloured vinyl with bloody tracks from Spirit Of Eden taking up one side by mistake. They promised to send me a proper copy once they had one in stock but i've heard nothing since.

Bastard :P I had an original Aussie pressing which was good, but got sucked in on the EMI reissue. Luckily not disappointed.
