Black Cable Tie Tweak. Just in time for Christmas!

Here's a fun little project. Count the number of drain spouts on your house or apt building - drain outs are the long, 6" diameter vertical metal pipes that run from the roof gutters to the ground. You might know them better as waterspouts, downspouts, roof drain pipes or some other arcane word or terminology so don't bust my chops.

Obtain enough 14" black cable ties from Home Depot so you'll have one black cable tie for each drain spout. IIRC 14" black cable ties come in a pack of 10 which should be plenty unless you live in Buckingham Palace. If you encounter a drain spout that's too wide for the 14" cable tie, use two cable ties per drain spout. First, freeze the cable ties.

Place all cable ties in the freezer overnight (about 12 hours). Remove them the next day and allow to thaw to room temperature. Secure one black cable tie snugly around each drain spout at a point approximately one foot up from the bottom opening of the pipe near the ground.

After all cable ties are in place go listen to some favorite recordings.

Cheers, Geoff Kait

Really? You have no ability to prove this doesn't work. It might sound a little far feached, but then again, so does landing a man on the moon. So, until you have tried this tweak it would seem narrow minded of you all to deny its ability to positively influence your audio experience.

And, it's worth noting that he represents a fancy named company - "Machina Dynamica, Advanced Audio Concepts". If we can't trust those in the audio industry to be straight with us, then who can we trust?

I'm off to Bunnings with my blissful ignorance....

This is nothing unusual for Geoff Kait and the Machina Dynamica team. The teleportation tweak is one of my favourites.

Forget this imported stuff - I have been at many blind tastings of Champagne and Pelorus is better than all except the most expensive imported such as Dom - Pelorus scored about the same as Bollinger Grand Anne - but is much cheaper.

My tipple for today is a sticky I am really impressed with from the Hunter - the Margan.

Thanks

Enjoy your various up-market tipples today lads. You've earned it after a hard year battling it out in the gladiatorial arena, AKA SNA forums!

As for the cable ties? Well I can't help but think it's all a bit tongue-firmly-in-cheek!!

Can't test it here either, all poly down pipes. :(

Have a good one today.

Cheers (hic)

Hi Graeme

Same to you my friend.

And all the best to the many other great people I had the great pleasure of meeting this year such as Willco, Cafad, Rob, Telcine - far too many to mention by name.

Thanks

Bill

Have a good day you lot and not too much of the champers.

I think I will give the cable tie tweak a miss.

It turns out that ordinary 14" black cable ties can be bought for a mere $0.17 each. I posit that such an inexpensive and common treatment could not possibly have the claimed benefit. If on the other hand these were audiophile enhanced cable ties that were cryogenically treated rather than simply being frozen in a domestic freezer (ugh) and they cost not $0.17 but $17 each, then I could imagine how the effect could be significantly enhanced to the extent that we should expect night and day differences.

Just sayin'

So do I.

I fully understand how stuff like that looks like snake oil - no question. The issue is when you listen to it sometimes, maddeningly, frustratingly, it isn't Sonic rocks - absolute bunkum but cryo treating - no - it does have audible effects - not always for the better I have to say.

Thanks

Bill, Unfortunately, that is such a rare comment - that expensive treatments don't always improve the sound; it's refreshing.

Ah, and my comments are tongue in cheek. Just in case anyone is wondering. They are not to be taken seriously.

Damn, it's Christmas Day and Bunnings are closed today. :( Looks like I'll just have to put my pinny back on and attend to the swine and meddley of vegetables roasting away in the oven.

Now where's that glass of red? My system ALWAYS sounds better after a bottle or two. :P Shiraz, cab sav, merlot, pinot noir, pinotage........

BTW, does this tweek work on rectangular PVC downpipes?

Forcast to be 39 degrees here today. Thank goodness for air conditioning. :thumb:

Cheers,

Alan R.

Merry Christmas everybody. :party
