petetherock
Budget bro? Suggest HN Millenia for the widest range to view. Courts Tampines for less premium and under 70" panels. Are you open to new panels without warranty at much reduced prices?

YANG
Model wise, HARVEY carries more models than BEST, COURTS, GAINCITY, AUDIOHOUSE, as well as Mustafa. But must determine which showroom u go. Suntec, Millenia is the best at the moment. Wider space, wider exhibits. Price wise, Mustafa chut the lowest list price against the rest, but delivery charges applies. Since ur old folks @ home watches only mediacorp free to air programmes mostly, simple makes should be enuff. Too much bigger a size may not be eye friendly to them due to brightness as well as close sitting distance. My mum oredi complain that the size n default brightness of the newly hoot 49incher sibeh siongz liaoz... So i spent sometime do tuning on contrast, brightness as well as backlight to achieve a perfect setting not so strainuous to the eyes, as well as pleaseful to my dvd movies... IMO, u still hv to do measurements of where ur seniors is sitting, and how much light they can take... Even though money may not a problem to u, 75incher is still an overkill lah... wizardofoz
Went for the LG C7 55" in the end...more than the 2k I thought they would want to spend but OLED pic quality won out, plus deal with vouchers and 49" for another room they are happy. Thanks Pete for the contact. OMG USA Samsung say use seating distance divide by 3 to get ideal screen size...knn too small at 40" for 10' viewing. They already complain can't see golf balls at 42"...so 55" should be just nice. And the 49" can watch in bed hahaha all sorted.
rayleh
Good buy for OLED since they are watching FTA channels. As for size, it is a matter of time that they get used to it.

Samsung eager to sell their product izzit??? Since laserdisc/crt/projection tv time, we oredi learned from americans that the best sitting distance is calculated another way round. Screen size※1.5=Seating distance. Maximum can stretch 2x nia...

I advised one my friend to set standard as i found the brightness and contrast too strong especially for his gal who is infant and watching youtube kiddy songs for hours in a day, but he still reluctant do so...This really eyes killer factor for kids and old folks. armoury
Any good deals. Folks old 42” plasma died and need new one to get today. Any lobangs Heh. Same problem, my old 434 finally died. And actually it was on borrowed time, for the last few months I was using a borrowed media receiver box, from a friend who has a 504 he doesn't use, after my box died. This time around I figure it's time to move on. What do you guys do with the old dead panels? Let the delivery guys bringing the new one take away? I called Pioneer to see if they wanted it (FOC) to cannibalise for spare parts, since the last time I tried to get my media receiver fixed the problem was a dead power supply, and no spare parts for it. But they don't do that, and didn't have any contacts for third-party repairmen who might be interested.

Fair enough, I suppose, especially for something as old as the 434. I got 13 years' service out of it, that's a very good run. Dreading the day my 50" Kuro goes on the fritz... Ah well, I've gotten about 15 years out of it, which is damn good for a plasma. Free to good home, if anyone wants to cannibalise it for parts -- see classifieds for details...
