UltraHD Premium certification announced

Recommended Posts

Finally we're getting proper certification for UltraHD TVs and Displays. So if one buys a new TV that is UltraHD premium certified, hopefully it will have a bit more future proofing.

Now we can start the process of shopping for a proper 4K TV  ;D

Just bought my Samme 65JS9500, wonder it meet the spec.?  ??? :'(

Received raving reviews on this model...if it is last year model, then I think it should fufil all if not most of the standards set forth here.

I don't like Samsung's SUHD colors. Those sets on demo in the stores have red and green colors that are so overblown that it hurt the eyes to look at them.

That's marketing "Color mode"...that's how you attract "eye balls"...but yes, for discerning buyers, you will need some serious calibration to get baseline Rec 709. For BT 2020, need a more advanced software calibration tools like Calman and Chromapure to make it work. For everything else - I.e. AVIA HD or DVE etc...will only get you Rec 709 gamut.

The oversaturated R/G/B at showroom is so unnatural, that's why it attracts our attention !

;)

LoL...that's another way to put it. Goes to show how Xtremeplace "affected" you...well, in a "good" way I suppose.

Here comes the latest and greatest OLED TVs....

No wonder we can get the current LG EG920T for only $3K+ now.

So big and thin piece of glass, one hit accidentally and it will be gone.

Glad to see that it's not curved. Don't like curved screens.
