valvelover
Try learning the E and A and changing between the two.You can even get some basic blues happening there. I can't do an E chord, my fingers don't stretch enough. Not even forcibly. As long as you are having fun and enjoying yourself it doesn't matter. When I first learned to play it was hours of frustration. It does get easier... Learn to play songs, it gives a sense of achievement and keeps the process fun Yeah, that was my idea. I wanted to learn to play some Christy Moore and Taylor Swift songs. Dave
LogicprObe
What E chord is he teaching you? It's almost the easiest one! Here........... http://www.morphis.com/guitar_lessons/lesson_4.asp - try this. (don't click on any ads.........they are after your money.) Now, the main thing here is that anyone sitting in front of you should not be able to see ANY part of your thumb. In fact, you yourself should only be able to see the tip of it. No, that's not what she taught me, I had to use all 4 fingers. mmm, now I'm confused. It was a few months ago, perhaps I'm mixing things up and forgetting things. LogicprObe
It's OK..........just do what I say...................learn that E and Eminor like in that link I posted...........just the lifting of one finger from major to minor is a great exercise. Often I'll just sir around doing that and changing the strumming...........you'll start to hear simple, often heard songs in it, or even come up with something of your own. Try it.........just the E and Em.
LuzArt
Valvelover, as someone who in the past twelve months got back into regularly playing guitar i can tell you it's awfully rewarding. Something obviously draws you to the instrument, so why not stick at it? YouTube and online tabs are fantastic, but one on one tutoring is invaluable, particularly when you're getting some chords under your belt. So why not keep on playing, find someone to sit with once a week to analyse your progress and you'll find in time you'll be playing songs you know and coming up with ideas of your own.
Darryl
Here's a shot of my stable. Just picked up the 12 string. Lovely guitar, and unusual to have a maple fret board.

I like the sound of the acoustic guitar and how it can build a song. Plus, some of my favourite artists have guitar based works. I need to find someone local who's really good and can tutor me I think. But that's when funds allow (I'm poor atm). Dave

Jake
I bought one of these for my almost 3YO last week, her choice of colour and she got the pink sparkly one. Well, you can't get me off it! It's a hoot. Took a few days to get my head around the tuning but now I'm loving it!

I have a friend who builds them from scratch using all Australian woods & such. Quite amazing the tone and projection you can get from them. There's a great doco about ukes you can watch on ABC Iview...."Mighty Uke" http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/series/12325

Two Flies
I'm thinking the tenor or baritone. The Greg Bennet appeals simply because it looks like it's well made. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UKT200-Tenor-Ukulele-Solid-Top-Back-Laminate-Sides-with-Bag-/400341154656?pt=AU_Musical_Instruments http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BARITONE-UKULELE-GREG-BENNETT-UK70BAR-SPRUCE-TOP-Carlingford-Music-02-98732333-/120872210347?pt=AU_Musical_Instruments_Instruments&hash=item1c248b8fab

LogicprObe
Yes the guitar came with one of those vibration sensing clip on jobs. Tune it up and get started on the E/Em.......then A/Am which are very similar. Therefore, one you master one, you almost have the other!
Itsmoi
Wanting a 2013 Les Paul Traditional, but a little hard to get my hands on at the moment. Low stock levels Don't really want to import one, prefer to buy local stock(Melbourne) in this case as I want to pleased visually and soundwise by it and that's a little hard to do via online shopping. Thinking Caramel Burst

Itsmoi
Just hit http://www.cranbournemusic.com.au/ and get it in. Not as easy as that, Gibson importer has only Heritage Cherry in stock. Had some dealings with a shop in Kew who were trying to get some in for me to look at or for me go to the importer and look at their stock and pick a great Heritage Cherry but hasn't eventuated. There is a Caramel 2013 Trad on Ebay but it's interstate and if the pic on Ebay is the pic of the actual guitar that particular one doesn't turn me on that much. Might ring Gallins a bit later and see if they are stocking any, in either Caramel, Light or Honey bursts.
LogicprObe
I was about to suggest ringing Gallins! If I go past there later, I'll duck in and have a look.
