Random cars of interest

One of the things this thread has got me thinking about, is that as it is now pretty much impossible to legally enjoy driving, well, for more than a few milliseconds at a time anyway, the fun in the future might have to come almost exclusively from the body shape. Personally, I find most current shapes very bland and uninspiring, with only extensive advertising mojo being able to invent significant differences from otherwise clone designs. Does that mean, though, that we might find greater diversity in shapes in the future to generates true interest?

I hope so.

And the true history of the bat mobile is ....

Lincoln futura

Nice try Bat Mello  :P

No, not a try at all, just a relevant titbit I came across in my travels that I thought you might have appreciated, the only try was to attempt to get something sensible out of you LoL

that flawed article you quoted, by the way ( look no further than the first  comment below the article incorrectly stating it is jetfighter inspired styling when in fact it was shark inspired ) also alludes to the origins of its design and credits Ghia designers and builders ) ...no biggie, but that is a 1954 car youve got there, the Alfa BAT 5 was on the road in 1953. The Alfa Romeo Facebook page is absolutely correct in its claims

Complete with V8

...at least I actually drive an Alfa

:P

I did read down and hoped you would find the credit.

One thing that the Italians can't be beat on is styling.

I should be experiencing it first hand hopefully later this year,

and...if the 4C is in the showrooms around Milan by then, ...could even see if I can get a test drive

Ill keep everyone updated (of course LoL) if I do manage to get a drive

;-)

New Lambo

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is set to officially unveil a new $4 million model - the Veneno - at the Geneva Motor Show Tuesday, but it seems that some folks in the press just couldn't wait that long. Images began appearing on the web Monday, before the show opened its doors.

Only three Venenos will be sold. If you have your heart set on buying one, we have some really bad news: all three have already been spoken for even before they've been built.

The 750 horsepower Veneno is largely based on the Lamborghini Aventador, a 691 horsepower car that sells for about $400,000. Like the Aventador, the Veneno has a 6.5-liter V12 engine, a seven speed transmission and full-time all-wheel-drive.

Ok so this is the car i got driven around in as a small boy, owned by my Dad. Taken off the road in the late 70s, hadn't been driven/registered until late last year after a very extensive and slow ground up rebuild which included everything, engine to interior, exhaust, new wire wheels etc. Pleased to say I could offer some assistance with the rebuild in the shape of solving electrical issues (DC electrics is part of my work background). I got to have my first drive in it for a very long time on Fathers day last year. A nice way to spend it with the old man. It really is just the most beautiful car in person, these pics do not do it justice.

Now an interesting bit. My Dad was contacted, some time in the early/mid 80's by someone from the Aston Martin Owners Club who was looking for a particular chassis number of a DB4, knowing that he had at one stage owned one. Dad told him he still had the car, checked his and rang the guy back confirming that the car being searched for was in fact his. The reason why the guy was looking for it- This car, this actual chassis number, was road tested in the early 60's and the review written up in a magazine (can't remember the name of it). It was the fastest road car at the time in Australia, clocking up 143mph during the test. Dad was sent a copy of the magazine by the guy he spoke to on the phone, and has since obtained a few other copies.
