this is nowhere near a random car, but it is of very great interest

the dream is getting closer

an announcement from Alfa Romeo that there will be an intial 200 Limited Launch Special Editions of the 4C, half of them to be RHD

According to information which was sent directly to our editorial office, Alfa Romeo will be launching the 4C in Geneva as a special ‘Launch Edition’. We received this info in response to our report this morning about the exact statistics of the 4C. This model will, just like the concept of 2011, be given a special bodywork-color and a limited badge. The mail sent to us stated that around 200 units of this ‘Launch Edition’ will be made, half of which will have the steering wheel at the left side. This mail also said that this news has been announced to dealerships in England.

leaked data

According to the blog Carscoop, the official numbers of the Alfa Romeo 4C are different than we had expected. They claim to be certain of these figures thanks to leaked information from a Swiss dealer. This particular dealership would possess this information because of the upcoming Auto Show in Geneva, where the production version of the 4C shall be introduced. We know from experience that Alfa Romeo Switzerland is closely connected to the realization of the stand in Geneva.

The figures are lower than expected, but still impressive. There will be three variants of which the standard-version produces 240 bhp and weighs less than 1.000 kilos (2.200 pounds).

A second, more extreme, version will be sending 270 bhp to the rear wheels and should weigh a little more than the basic model. This more powerful model is said to be named ‘Stradale’ and would be debuting in 2014.

On that same basis and with the same power output, they are planning to come up with a track-version called ‘Racing’ (also in 2014). This rear-wheel drive two-seater will have an ‘easy-entry’ for such a low car thanks to the use of unique hinges for the doors.

The Targa will be following shortly after the closed version.

Prices should be between 56.000 and 64.000 euros (76.400-87.300 dollars or 48.000-54.900 pounds) for the 4C.

http://www.autoedizione.com/alfa-romeo-4c-standard-with-296-bhp/

We’re getting more and more signals that the Alfa Romeo 4C is as good as ready for production. That is why lots of rumors are now going around about the exact performance figures of this model. The British AutoCar, for example, claims it will simply be a smaller brother to the 8C. In other words; a limited model capable of great performance. They say no more than 2.500 will be built annually and that the production will go on for 7,5 years.

It should be a true driver’s car (unlike the 8C) and represent what the all-new 1742cc 4-cylinder engine block – which will be positioned right behind the two seats – is capable of. It is an aluminum engine, producing 296 bhp, linked to a new generation TCT with double dry clutch. This small miracle will most likely be built in Pratola Serra (where lots of Alfa engines have been produced over the years) and will be given the honorable indication ‘1750’. The platform of the car is lighter than expected thanks to the use of high-quality aluminum and carbon fiber and should keep the car’s total weight below 850 kilos (1875 pounds). 340 Nm (251 ft/lb of torque) will help take this baby from 0 to 100 in under 5 seconds and on to a top speed exceeding 250 km/h (155 mph). An even more powerful version (picture above?) would also be considered. The suspension of the car has a new unique lay-out in benefit of the driving characteristics.

The – in Modena built – Alfa Romeo 4C should be a signal indicating that the brand is again state-of-the-art technique-wise. Exactly like it used to be. The rear-wheel drive 4C will be presented in Geneva in March.

Wont know anything for certain until the covers come off at Geneva in March, but its looking very saucy...

...and its getting closer

:P

Trolling??

I don't think so.

I just made an innocent post that Batmobile had come up for sale on eBay.

An you reply with this.

Fatman and Blobbin LoL!! will that even get through the drive-thru ?

howthefkk do you follow a 4C with that bogan's  wet dream LOL!!

youve had since Nov last year to reply to that

? ?

What did you expect??? Hugs and kisses??

BTW, It's not that often such a rare and collectible car comes up for sale, hence the slow reply.

Now have Alfa sorted out their reliability issues yet?

I remember a mate had a couple of Alfasuds years ago, it was rare both were running at the same time.

Seems they still need work. (2010 survey)

Last year’s position 28th out of 30

Cars needing repair work 47%

Average repair cost £420

Star model 166 (’99-’05)

Alfa has a poor track record in our reliability surveys.

This year its worst model, the GTV (’96-’03), recorded a shocking 77 failures per 100 cars, with the GT (’05-) just behind at 68 per 100.

Just under a third of all Alfa failures were down to the axles and suspension, with engine faults the next biggest issue – causing more than 15% of problems.

The C4 may very well be explosive........... dude.

I think the real issue here is you drive-thru fetish.  :)

sorry dude, its all my fault

Well my little pantyhosiered Robin, it kind of goes something like this...

...even your little Trollmobile was conceived and designed by Alfa Romeo...

(from the Alfa Romeo Facebook page)

"Another Alfa history lesson. The 1950's Bat concept was designed for Alfa Romeo with the goal of creating extremely aerodynamic cars that could handle the speeds engineers were creating, eventually achieving a wind resistance better than today's Porsches or Corvettes."
