They don't do it justice. But (i.e. WTF?) why don't they release it with a sequential gearbox like they have on the rally cars? Having to spend that extra care and time changing gears is so last century (and sooo slooow). So much more fun just flicking a lever or a paddle - you don't even have to heel&toe! Obviously the 2025 model hasn't been released in Oz yet, but i've seen a current GR Yaris Rallye Edition at a servo and was impressed. They look and sound like a purpose-built rally car. Re: sequential gearboxes, you can shift sequentially at race speeds. But in city traffic, you have to use the clutch which is tricky with a sequential. Also, sequential boxes add a lot of cost. You don't need a clutch at reasonable speeds, but it makes it much easier when you're stuck in traffic.

Shimano's electronic groupsets don't require a manual clutch for low speeds, and don't cost anything like a good sequential box in a car. Only hypercar manufacturers would use a sequential box in a road car. Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo etc don't use them for good reason. AudioGeek
If you like to mod, there are sequential gearboxes for the GR Yaris. Can run 9's with all the other mods !! I thought the GR was actually more fun at the track than the Focus RS. I did come to this country last century... was told "only sheilas drive autos"

Any dual clutch gearbox is sequential and most of the hypercar manufacturers now use these exclusively. I'm not surprised that motorcycles (bikes) do not, as they're a little more cumbersome than the older style transmission.

I guess I should have clearer in my comment by refererring to a manual sequential box, which I assumed was what you were talking about. I'm also a fan of a well executed DCT like Porsche's PDK or VW's DCT used in the Golf R.

As far as I can tell, it's mainly the time attack guys and rally teams that fit those expensive manual sequential boxes to their GR's. And for that purpose, they're excellent.
