Sharpj04
I'm aiming to set up a decent sounding entry level sound system - turntable / CD and was looking at the following amplifier options: Cambridge Audio - Azur 350A NAD C316 Rotel RA - 04 SE One audio shop tried to convince me on the Rotel unit combined with a pair of PSB bookshelf speakers!?! If anyone has any experience / opinions with the above or if I should be looking at something else around the $500 price range, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! DoggieHowser
For the budget, I'd look at active speakers. Amazing value for money. Have a listen to the Focal studio monitors or better yet, get one with the Beryllium tweeter. Other options include the Quad 12L actives and the Dynaudio equivalents. The Quads has two amps per speaker to drive the tweeter and woofer separately and the amps are based off their 909 amps. I'd partner it with an Audiolab CDQ or MDAC and you are good to go.
