wadiman Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Hi guys - I bought my Michell Gyro secondhand with a SME 309 and this Ortofon Kontapunkt A in place. Can anyone advise on what wiring this is from the pic? I'm wondering if the strands should be as they are or if they have 'unbundled' over time? I read somewhere on the forum about single strand connections being a better proposition - any thoughts welcome!
Owen Y Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 That stuff looks something along the lines of what they used to call 'Litz' cabling, once popular. A generic term for individually insulated conductors, usually small diam, bundled, often twisted.
wadiman Posted September 16, 2012 Author Posted September 16, 2012 Thanks guys - I was just a bit concerned that the strands might somehow be deteriorating but if that is part of the design then i'll follow your advice djb!
djb Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 ..... Cos these things are tiny fragile and so so easily broken
