From Absolute Sound;

"Every so often in high-end audio a product comes along that shatters the price-to-performance ratio we’ve come to expect in a category. Think the NAD 3020 integrated amplifier in the 1970s, the Adcom GFA amplifiers in the 1980s, the PSB Alpha speaker in the 1990s, and the Cambridge Audio 840C CD player in the 2000’s.

You can add another future legend to that list: the $399 Micromega MyDAC. The MyDAC is so good that I couldn’t keep it a secret for the seven weeks it will take for my full review to appear in the December issue of The Absolute Sound."

Big claim, but at $AUD580 delivered I ordered one , always interested in a new approach. We shall see if it lives up to the hype.

See the trouble is, claims like this are trotted out so often that they lose credibility. In fact, so cliched had it become that when I read that sentence I thought someone was writing a parody.

The problem is that 'every so often' seems to mean 'every edition of the magazine'.

Hey if your paying for advertising you should get advertising!

that kind of advertising seems to be highly successful

You'll have to keep checking back. I make a point of never posting links to my own site on SNA.

That's a pity, your site shows a clean set of heels to sites that are many times more expensive :)

Had it playing for a few hours. Its ok, probably great value and a good dac for someone wanting a usb capable dac for $600. But it is a long way from a giant killer.

Admitedly I'm comparing it to a dac that cost over $2K and has a seperate dedicated output stage. But the claim was it was as good as $2K dacs.

The case is plastic and tacky, cant pull it apart without damaging it, it probably has opamps in it, and it sounds like it.

But I'm a real fussy b*****d, and its just my opinion, nothing more. You probably cant get as good a dac for $600, it is smooth and agreeable, and probably ideal for what it was designed for- getting into CA at reasonable price.

I'll put it in aother system and run it for 48 hours and see if it improves.

Did Statman ever reply after letting the dac run in?
