Briz Vegas Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 hmmmm marketing Well it sounds cinematic. Will wait and see if this one grabs me. 24 bit might be nice Sarah
Briz Vegas Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) So, this either wasn't news or folks don't like blasko. Maybe she is too pop, needs more alt or musical experimentation. Does mass strings replacing a synth really do much. Has she taken on some interesting classical ideas or will it just be long chords with the odd lilting moment. Oddly enough I find I go back to her earlier pop stuff more than her last album. Maybe there is more interesting new music on the horizon. I've got to admit that Blasko herself is part of the appeal of her music. The quirky cute girl next door thing . Edited September 14, 2012 by Briz Vegas
Guest Muon Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I like Sarah, just need to get some vinyl, she has releases on vinyl I hope? She is very cute too

Its none of that for me, it is her pronunciation, I just cannot get past it to enjoy her songs. I liked her in Seeker Lover Keeper but that band led me to discover Holly Throsby whom I would rate much more than Blasko. Edited September 15, 2012 by mondie 1

I have a couple of the Blasko albums............but definitely +1 for Ms Thorsby
Briz Vegas Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 Yeah, Thorsby ain't bad. I only have her like a version track. We are lucky in Australia, we have a number of good female singer/songwriter/guitar players, each is unique. You could compare but I would rather enjoy all of their music (I worded that very carefully) I have Blasko's 4 records, plus Megan Washington, Laney Lane and Abbe May. Preference depends on mood mostly. Megan Washington's Santaria cover is outstanding
rantan Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Sarah Rocks. A very under-rated singer/songwriter and should sell better than she does.
Monty Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I like Sarah Blasko. I played her last album a lot. One of the things I liked about it was the rather sparse instrumentation. Given that, I'm not sure about full orchestration, but I'll certainly give the new one a go. Her lyrics and phrasing can be a bit overwrought, so I can understand her not being everyone's cup of tea. But I've got plenty of time for her and Holly Throsby.
wolster Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I hope Mikizee won't mind including his post in this link when Sara was discussed here a while ago. I thought his observation spot-on. Must listen to a more recent track to see if it still applies.
