Has anyone done any mods to Emotiva XDA-1 DAC in SA?

Recommended Posts

Just purchased the Emotiva DAC XDA-1.

Love the sound with 44.1/16 bit material via V-link>Coax>DAC>AMP (better than dedicated USB on the DAC to my ears). More fuller, deeper, warmer and better clarity than V-link alone.

On higher e.g. 24bit 96khz material, Prefer the V-link>Optical>AMP. High freq are more crystal sounding/brighter, the DAC seems clean but rolled off. Can be the synergy of the system as a whole?

(on a different note - looking at a NEW 2ch dedicated AMP for music and moving the Marantz SR7002 to HT duties!)

Has anyone done, or can do any mods to this DAC?

I am trying to get the V-link out-of the system if I can, and still achieve the best of both, without switching between them (a lazy/convenience thing!). Especially if I go away from Digital inputs (e.g. HT amp).

Curious Ron!

I haven't modded an Emotiva DAC but have modded another AD1955 based DAC. What I/V opamps are being used? Probably it can be improved by grounding changes but these aren't for the faint-hearted as they require quite a lot of cut and strapping of groundplanes Opamp rolling would be a less risky mod.
