Led Zepplin IV

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the heads up. Off topic have you noticed the prices for albums in this store have been steadilly increasing. Sometimes I burst out laughing looking at some of the prices they are trying to flog off to us.Madonna for bloody $70!!!!

Could also do with a lot more rackspace too as I hate the way they jam up all the records together and wince when I see some people thumbung through them almost snapping them in half as they attept to see what the next one is.....grrrrrr

Just picked up the new 180gm pressing mastered from original tapes.

Wow!!!!!

Released yesterday without too much fanfare. Definitely worth buying.

Not showing JB online or Red Eye.

Anymore details ? On which label ? Mastering Engineer ?

Just IV or others I - III ?

Yeah, details please?! I have been looking for a good vinyl copies of these albums for quite some time; it's quite hard to make up your mind as to which one to buy.

Just Zep 4. Walked in and there they were on the new release wall. 180gm mastered from

Original Master tape.

Wasn't aware of any release but the sound is absolutely magic.

Mother ship was so crappy and digital sounding. This is really anolog and vinyl sounding with lots if layering.

Get a copy if you can. Not sure I other albums are being released.

I got a copy for fathers day from JB HiFi in Frankston and agree it is a good pressing. Sound much better than my old...cassette circa 1989

Don't forget to list the cassette on Ebay for the 'collectors' for $$. "All Analogue Tape", hahaha.

It's made in Germany

thanks.

Found reference online to a German 180 gr Analog press in the mid 2000s ?.

This could be the one if a box of them turned up somehow.

Got original UK plum label pressings of most early LZ albums , and original Japanese copies of most , plus German pressings.......

The classic records pressings on 180 gram are the pick of the bunch sonically though......with the possible exception of the first album......Led Zeppelin , 1st UK pressing with turquoise lettering sounds superb.

Haven't heard anything about a new LZ IV analog pressing though......must investigate.

I am suitably jealous. I have all the Zep on vinyl (and about a carton of bootlegs including out-takes from IV recording sessions - audiophiles would go cross-eyed as Plant would just warble the melody before the lyrics came). Some original pressings from my elder siblings - and must check their markings, for, say "RL"

My LZ IV is an AT/GP in the deadwax. That's George Piros mastered. Easily better than the one 'Pecko Duck' (G.Peckham ) I have compared it to. Quality quiet vinyl too.

Further to E Man, as I mentioned and was a bit vague, LZ II and Houses of the Holy were mastered by Robert (Bob) Ludwig. LZ II fetch a few hundred bucks with the RL marking on both sides what is called the deadwax as Atlantic had huge problems with that initial release because the rather "cheap" (no offence, they were possibly quite spiffy at the time) early 1970s household turntables couldn't play it without skipping.

Houses of the Holy with RL markings are reasonably priced.

I cannot comment on the country of origin where they were pressed - others may know.
