david chau Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Hello guys, Just took out my tubes on my valve amp and replaced them and the left channel is not working anymore.....anyone got suggestions? David
david chau Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 i took the tubes out and just put them back in (same tubes), all tubes light up so unsure as to why there is no sound in the left channel.
LogicprObe Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Oh, OK. You have to make sure they are in their correct sockets and have the correct orientation. Even though some have keyways, I've seen them loose or broken off, allowing incorrect orientation. Also check for bent or really dirty/corroded pins.
Nada Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Try the old ones again? the logic of this advice is irrefutable get it working again using the original valve configuration then change just one valve at a time
tagstrip Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) Check where the socket pins attach to the pcb board if that is how the amp is constructed. Sometimes hairline cracks in the copper tracks can open up when stressed as the tubes are unplugged. Hard wired tube amps rarely suffer this sort of problem - for obvious reasons!
