Mr Wonder Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Hi All, can someone please verify for me that this is REAL and not some hoax? Regards, Mr Wonder Edited September 9, 2012 by Mr Wonder
pete_mac Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Reputedly $4k each! There's a few additional pics floating around the 'net: 1
Addicted to music Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 For $4k per component, you can make out the speaker and XLR connections but wouldnt you think the end user prefer labelling all input and outputs
Mr Wonder Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 Hi "pchan", i suspect that they are non-functional prototypes....well for $4K each...they better be! LOL! Mr Wonder
Cafad Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 It looks as if we will have to wait until 2013 to find out. Was there a write up or blurb to go with any of those pics?
Lil Caesar Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Geeez I nearly sprung for the 2000 series gear when it was released... glad I didn't That amp is worth buying for retro industrial aesthetic alone The real question is whether the matching SACD spinner is just a pretty box or offers something genuinely new and/or different.
betty boop Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 like ! great to see yam bringing out some special pieces here, and also continuing to support the sacd format wiht some lovely sacd spinners

Mr Wonder So you might be right 1st time Mr Wonder, they may be "hoax" LOL  Check the IEC plug, no earth pin, must be for the Japanese market, the end users there dont need labelling on all there in/out RCA's, they must know where averything goes LOL Edited September 9, 2012 by pchan
Toisich-Jnr Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 These look good. The amp looks very nice indeed. However the SACD player would still need the Custom Analogue (Joe Rasmussen) treatment to turn it into a high end player. 1
Blue Ruin Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Now available in the UK. Haven't heard if it will be available in Oz. http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/hifi-components/amps/a-s3000_g/?mode=model

I wonder if those with the NS 1000M monitors are tempted. match made in heaven ? an all yamaha system that would be pretty stunning I imagine. I do wonder if yamaha is going to release something in the line of the ns1000M to match up to these beauties

Lil Caesar Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Hehehe. Just imagine it. NS "3000" monitors to match. Sadly it won't happen cos it all makes too much nostalgic sense.

Sadly it won't happen cos it all makes too much nostalgic sense. yeah how can they release such nostalgia pieces like these and forget about the speakers ? they could be in piano black finish to match the side panels on these
DAMO 1147 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I wonder how much they offer Sq wise over the current 2000 range?

You will never see quality like this, check out the earth screws that are used to secure the pcbs, they are copper, the wires of the toroidal go into a termination strip that is screw type. This is a work of art! Getting very rare on HiFi components, you will only see this in industrial electronics that deal with 32amp+ 1

betty boop Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 yes very good to see this level of quality. especially in this era of a lot of cost cutting and a lot of cheap nasty stuff that tends to be out there. good to see yamaha going to its audio roots with some quality stuff here
cafe67 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Slightly off topic how well were the 2000 series amp and CD player received/reviewed?
kdoot Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 That looks like highly respectable engineering. I wonder how it sounds. Can anybody spot the crystal oscillators in the CD unit? Possibly they're underneath, but I can't see them.
