Hi guys , I have a Minolta digital camera which has been great for the basic sort of photography I do.

The Minolta has started to get a bit finicky in terms of recognising the SD cards.

I want to get a new camera that takes pics that are decent enough for family snaps and also for posting stuff on here.

My partner has one of those pocket Nikon things but although it has much higer res than my Minolta takes crappy pics.

I want something with a view finder as well as the LCD but it doesn't have to be SLR.

I was about to pull the pin on a Canon 1100D with single lens kit but I really don't want to spend that sorta money ($439)

Any guidance will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Gordon

Hi Ozcall,

as Bomwe Rock mentioned, definitely try another card.

I had a panasonic FT1, my son dropped it at 80km/kr on a motor bike and it survived. So I bought the FT2, it has higher pixels. Currently they are FT20 and FT4. The FT20 is around $200.

With these compacts the best thing to look for is for is a wide angle lens and good macro function and also a fast sutter release. the FT2 goes down to 28mm. The best thing about these are the fact they are robust and they have internal focusing and zooming so no dust ever get in them. Dont rely on the waterproof feature as my son stuffed a FT2 he bought becused it failed to seal properly. Once liquids are set in, warranty is void.

Hi guys thanks for all the replies.

I don't want to spend more than $250 if I can get away with it.

Al , will take a trip to OW this arvo .

Cheers,

G

PS : cards are of various makes and capacities and work in other cameras with no problems.
