bobbly_bob Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Item: Pioneer SM-B161 Valve Amplifier Location: Toowoomba Price: $150 ono Item Condition: One channel working perfectly, the other quiet. All valves tested at local hi-fi repair centre and working. It has been explained to me that the caps need replacing and the amplifier should then work perfectly. I have the circuit diagram from another SNA member and always told myself I'd get around to replacing the caps myself... Reason for selling: No time to repair Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Cats eye model. Frequently sell >$200 on eBay as completely dead items Item: NAD 513 CD Player - no remote control Price: $100 ono Item Condition: Excellent save one small scratch to the top of the casing Reason for selling: No longer required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Could well be one of the most costly 513 CD players out there. I purchased this second hand after the previous owner spent $250 on a new eye and motor for the drawer. After being set up atop a Luxman valve amplifier, the CD player blew its fuses due to the heat. Fuses in these are dry soldered in place and a further $100 was spent being repaired. Very cool CD player; the drawer contains all moving parts and opens as a single unit. bobbly_bob Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 I should mention that the Pioneer is a rather heavy amplifier given the size of the transformer and the build of the chassis. Also, when it came back from the Hi-Fi store, the case screws were missing. These were a good few decades old and in poor shape, so would warrant replacing anyhow. I have scews lying around from multiple old pieces of audio if this would be an issue for a prospective buyer. The Etones are decently heavy speakers, huge magnets, probably 8-10kg a driver at a guess, maybe more.
