Grainy Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 (edited) Item: EVA2 PAssive Preamp Location: Melbourne - Coburg Price: $225 - Bought it from a fellow SNA member about 3 weeks ago for $300 so prepared to take a loss for a good learning experience. Item Condition: Very good, no scratches, brand new remote. Previous owner bought it new (and couldn't find the remote). Reason for selling: To be honest it just didn't gell with my existing gear. My source had high-ish output impedance - 800ohm and my poweramps have a low-ish input impedance - 25kohm, not ideal for a passive pre apparently. So it was just a bit 2D in its presentation, but the clear highs were lovely Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Delivery add $15 for an overnight registered postbag with bubblewrap. Extra Info: Can be found here: http://diyparadise.c...products_id=113 It's a great little unit and I'm disappointed that it didn't suit. The Mrs was rapped when such a small component was added into the system. Easy to use with the included Apple remote. Pictures: Can be viewed at link above. Edited September 25, 2012 by Grainy

Grainy Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Or even a phono pre, so I'll be ready for a trip to the dark side.
Nigel Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Good description of the problem you encountered Grainy. The lack of sibilance (treble distortion/tizziness) is great but if the impedance matching is not great (as in your case) then current drive/dynamics and bass can be weak. Someone who has source with low Zout and an amp with hign Zin, should consider trialling a passive.
Grainy Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Thanks Nigel, I'm happy for anyone in Melbourne to trial it with their poweramp, in fact I have the day off today so could bring around to any other slackers like me who aren't working today.
Grainy Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 (edited) It has 3 pairs of RCA single ended inputs, all switchable from the remote. Edited September 25, 2012 by Grainy
