Well, mostly just the one issue, the Touch keeps losing contact with the usb external hard drive, giving me the message it can't find connect to the usb.

I have tried leaving the hard drive on all the time, ejecting it prior to turning off the touch, leaving both on, all with the same result.

When it works it is fantastic, but this has been frustrating me for over a year, though obviously not enough to actually do anything thus far :)

The only thing i have tried is to change the USB cable, with not apparent difference.

the hard drive has about 130gig of flac files, i have reset and tidied up the meta tags, i have also defragged the drive and deleted the squeezebox files and started over.

would a solid state hard drive make a difference?

I have the same issue. So far I haven't been able to find a solution that works all the time. However, most of the time I find that the SQT shows that it is connected to 2 hard drives (not correct) and the problem is solved by switching to the other hard drive.

Never had the problem, I ran mine for several hours at a party through the USB but admittedly with a 4Gb USB thumb drive rather than a HDD, maybe it is the size of the drive that is causing refresh delays.

Are your hard drives USB or mains powered?

I've heard of people report dropped connections with portable drives.

the usb hdd is mains powered.

it has some 6000 files on it, mostly music with sleeve images for the albums, so that is under the 10000 file limit suggested by logitech

there is about 130 gig of music, on a 500 gig drive

I had this problem a lot and could never figure out what the problem was. It would work for a while but then randomly loose contact with the HDD. Sometimes in the middle of a track. Drove me crazy because the only way to get it back was to blank and then rerun squeezebox server. Ultimately I got sick of the problem and moved on. Now have a Meridian Sooloos setup. Was expensive (buy it from the UK - waay cheaper) but was the best thing I ever did - bloody fantastic.
