Was Gillard right to boycott the ACL national conference after Jim Wallace's comment?

My feeling is that she should have gone and entered into the debate rather than running away.

Agree. To now refuse after saying she was still going after the comment shows she is just responding to media chat rather than conviction.

Agree.

For one thing she is an unmarried childless women and statistics would indicate that is an unhealthy lifestyle too.

And how about dentists? They have a much lower life expectancy so must lead very undesirable lifestyles.Even worse if you are an indigenous dentist who also works as a part time stuntman.

She needed to speak up for all such people.Perhaps they should even have the right to get married.

Yes,agreed.

But it seems she's the type of polly that would only go there if they all liked and agreed with her.She wants to get cheers and claps, opposing views make it allto difficult.

Why she didn't want to debate Wallace is beyond me?

Any thoughts on Jeff Kennett's offer to attend?

http://www.heraldsun...a-1226467546416

Mr Kennett, one of the founders of the depression advocacy group, has written to Mr Wallace offering his services, saying it was important such comments didn't go unanswered.

An ACL spokesman told AAP the organisation had received Mr Kennett's letter and would reply in due course."I challenge the Australian Christian Lobby to allow me to speak at their national conference in October to put a more temperate, and I suspect, a more Christian view because nowhere in the Bible do I find the act of discrimination acceptable," the former Victorian premier said in a statement on Friday.

But he questioned Mr Kennett's decision to make his offer public.

At this point in time there is much to lose and little to gain, plenty of other targets out there.
