hugo_wilco Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I was lucky enough to have a home demo of the new Trenner & Friedl Pharoah loudspeaker. Rated at 92dB sensitivity with a flat 6ohm load these are very efficient and unfussy speakers. Well straight off the bat, these look incredible! They even received an "I don't hate them" from my wife. I was stunned at the rhythm, drive, dynamics and musicality of these speakers. As a Tannoy Prestige owner, the sound was almost dual concentric in its sound but with a far more extended top end and greater speed. I didn't think I could get better dynamics then my 10inch Kensington but these 8inch woofers made them sound slower and restrained and sounded just as low and deep. Throughout the whole session I found myself turning the volume down (these buggers play LOUD) and the amount of low level detail was astonishing. When they were packed up and left the house my wife commented "they were really funky looking speakers, the nicest ones you've ever had in the house" So there you have it, efficient musical and easy to drive speakers with beautiful craftsmanship and wife appeal. Thanks Warwick for the demo. I better start saving!!!!! 2
avalon Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 They look very nice Hugo. You are already half way there if you have wife approval. Ella look very nice too. I'm off to buy a lotto ticket
damohpi Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 interesting looking speaker, very similar in style and perhaps implementation to the Devore O/96. Does PMG also import the RA model? 1

Does PMG also import the RA model? I believe so. They don't have them in yet (thank god) because if the Pharoah is anything to go by, the Ra will be killers!
Sir Triode Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Is the Ra a higher or lower model in the range in relation to the Pharoah?
hugo_wilco Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 I think it is above? You should call Pure Music Group they are very helpful and accommodating. Let me know if you find out about the Ra. Would LOVE to hear it!!!!!!! 1
houdinifangs Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Have to agree that the H&T's carry the immediacy and imaging of a full range/coaxial speaker only with bags of detail and finesse in the top end. They are superbly built and look amazing. I only heard them through a SS amp and would loved to hear them connected to a nice 300B.

Krispy Audio Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I adore the look of these speakers - hopefully can have a listen one day.
hugo_wilco Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 They are stunning they look like works of art and the woodgrain is incredible. First time wifey ever liked the look of anything HiFi. The sound was fantastic. Warwick said they only has 50hrs running in so can't imagine what thy would sound like after 200+.
samman Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Bought them! Congratulations on your purchase, I'm sure you'll get years of listening pleasure from them...
MrRogers Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) Congratulations. 92dB and 8 Ohms means you can choose the best sounding amplifier, regardless of power. It's a fantastic choice to putting a great system together. Edited September 24, 2012 by MrRogers
houdinifangs Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 C'mon we need some pics. Oh...and...if you need a camera... 1

gia Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) Congratulations! You have a very impressive system, your analog setup must be a killer. Well done, enjoy... Edited September 23, 2012 by gia
Demondes Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Is that a Leben amp driving them? Are they 2-3 way. Yes I agree they are attractive speakers well done. The width to height ratio couple with the wood gives them a retro feel (I don't mean that in a bad way)
adrocks Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Well done, they look great , bet they sound good with the Leben too.
hugo_wilco Posted September 23, 2012 Author Posted September 23, 2012 Sound great with my Shindo/Leben. They are a 2 way Speaker. Very easy to drive. Really want to hear them with a single ended power amp. 1
teah Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Newbie seeking info....What is the power rating of your Leben driving your Pharaohs? Have spoken and corresponded with Warwick from PMG to organise a demo at his place soon. Tannoy Prestige, Stirling or Turnberry, also of interest and should have a demo at Audiophile of the Stirling when their new shipment arrives.....near end of March. My valve amp is an Icon Audio 60 MK III rated at 86/87 u-linear and 40 plus triode. Thanks and regards John.
