Guest Peter the Greek
Just finished watching the first episode on iView. I got to hand it to the Poms, they know how to do good drama. Set in the 1950's its about (you guessed it) midwives. Its superbly shot and the cast is first rate. I found the first episode slow in places but then its not supposed to be Breaking Bad....certainly has legs. Some of it is pretty confronting and emotional - perhaps its just me being a new dad of 11.5 weeks myself it reminds me how lucky we were to have no major issues. Anyhow, good mature, well written and directed British drama if you're into it. On the ABC Sunday nights?
mikey d
Missed it. I've been working as a midwife for the past 25yrs & those old school midwives are my heroes. Will have to catch up with it.

Luc
Watched all of this series ealier this year when it first came out, at the time it was the top rating Pom show on Sunday nights with a nice voice over from the Vannesa Redgrave. It doesn't lag at all over the six eps, well worth the watch.

LogicprObe
There was more screaming last night. I resorted to the headphones.
emesbee
I accept that it may be a well produced series, but somehow a program about midwives and babies just doesn't grab my interest.

surprisetech
I accept that it may be a well produced series, but somehow a program about midwives and babies just doesn't grab my interest. Don't let that put anyone off. The hospital is only the main setting for what is proving to be a brilliant piece of historical drama. I had my reservations at first, but this has joined RocKwiz and Media Watch as my only must-see bits of free to air TV at present. I wasn't sure if the occasional voiceover might get annoying, but they're done sparingly and they complement and round out the stories nicely.
