MWR Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Any suggestions welcome regarding what is good for a DD turntable to sit on. I'm assuming something that does not carry vibrations easily, suggestions on budget applications would be good, you know, nothing gold or silver plated Thanks
surprisetech Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Have a look at brownemi's post in this thread. http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/15844-tt-support/ 1
wolster Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 A popular solution is the Lack table from Ikea for a whole $10.
Batty Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I use two lack tables atop one another but for a belt drive TT Sent from my LT15i using Tapatalk 2
MWR Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) wolster and Batty, Now ya talkin! I'll check it out and if size is ok will pick one (or two) up tonight How do you connect them, or don't you? Edited September 6, 2012 by MWR
Catostylus Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 That thing is so versatile. You can also use it for your headphone amp and cans.
A J Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Yep lack rules here - best result I've ever had !!
Upfront Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 +1 for the lack tables. Started of as a stop gap measure... 3 years on....

MWR Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 Some great ideas, thanks for the help.
Gordon Macfarlane Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Lack's are great but usually used with suspended turntables. Direct drives tend not to have suspension systems and are usually better catered for by a rigid wall shelf with some mass loading.
MWR Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 So something quite solid then, well I could put my amp on the lack and TT on the cabinet. Good advice Ozcall. BTW I'm finding a lack of bass thinking of changing the head shell (as it may be a little bit worst for wear) and a cartridge, could these steps possibly give me more bass?
MWR Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) New headshell ...sorted Bought Lack now has amp on it thanks Edited September 13, 2012 by MWR
Guest Muon Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 You might like to try placing a concert paver on the cabinet, under the DD table.
MooneeBeach Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I sit mine on a piece of acrylic which I bought from eBay for about $20, then just placed some clear pads on the underside.
