DRC Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Not! And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out by Yo La Tengo. This was ordered from Amazon, with Fulfilment Express as the store that dispatched the order. The vinyl was not broken. Somehow. The cover is ratty and I am less than amused. Who slaps an invoice and postal info onto an album and expects it to make it half way around the world undamaged without any packaging whatsoever? Weapons grade tools, that who. 1
darthlaker Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 WTF?!! That is the best non packaging I have ever seen!
Mr Tubson Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Oh wow, that is some of the most minimal packaging I've seen. Great album though, I would put this in my top 20 albums of all time (sorry I realise that probably isn't very comforting )
metal beat Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 That s the laziest pos packing I have ever seen. Ask for a refund and post them the photo
darthlaker Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Post it on their Facebook page. Send it to Engaget....make it go viral, baby! 1
Guest Muon Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Amazing! In a bad way, the lazy buggers.
handy steel Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) That's a first, I have ordered quiet few albums from Amazon US and non have ever been (not) packed. Amazons customer service is A1, so contact them and report it. Edited September 5, 2012 by handysteel
proftournesol Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 That packer has a job waiting at Fishpond
DRC Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 A complaint with photo has been lodged with Amazon UK. I should be really angry, but am just shaking my head going WTF?
proftournesol Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 maybe we could have the 'thread of shame', with photos, shipping company and response to complaints? 1
sean Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I wasn't going to put it so bluntly, but that is FARKIN UNBELIEVABLE! I too am shaking my head going WTF! Hope you get some sort of resolution from Amazon, or at the very least the seller gets a kick up the behind.
valvelover Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Whoah that is absolutely disgraceful. Well worth a complaint to Amazon. Dave
soundfan Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Whenever I use Amazon I just cross my fingers and hope for the best. Their packaging of vinyl leaves a lot to be desired at times.
Krispy Audio Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Speaking of awesome packaging, how's this for irony. It's shockingly packed, but guess what company it's from? A packaging company!
Rockman Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 That packer has a job waiting at Fishpond I reckon this dude is a Fishpond reject, at least they put it in a box!! Post the pix on all the audio forums, get the message out, "avoid Fulfilment Express like the plague".
DRC Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 FEDEX just delivered a bunch of Finite Element, VPI and Mo Fi gear I ordered - Signed for by: Stuart Delivered to: Receptionist/Front Desk but my name is Duane. I don't have no front desk. Details: delivered to address other than recipient I would prefer it was delivered to me... And it is interesting that this consignment didn't seem to make it out of Alexandria, NSW (it was there at 12.27 PM today) before being signed off for in Blewitt Springs, SA (also at 12.27 PM). Retards. Apologies, that is politically incorrect. Farking Retards.
DRC Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 FEDUP? (Sorry, couldn't resist!) Mark, you would know better than most on this topic. Does this solar system possess a reliable courier/freight forwarding service? Or do we have to subsist until we discover intelligent life?
darthlaker Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 They are usually all as bad as each other at times! I have contacts at UPS and use them a lot at very attractive pricing. Their service is very good. I can assist any SA SNA'ers (sorry, only SA) if they want to import/export anything. Cheers

Retards. Apologies, that is politically incorrect. Farking Retards. I recently had something similar from Australian Air Express. I bought a turntable off one of the members here. I checked the online tracking in the morning, on board with delivery driver, ok cool I'm getting my turntable today. Midday rolls around and I had to go out, so I rang AAE, ' just wondering if my package is being delivered today, if not I'll be near your depot so I can pick it up' , 'sir our records show that it has been delivered, signed by ( cant remember the name) ' excuse me! what?!! , no one by that name lives at my address' , ' are you sure sir?' , ' of course I'm bloody sure' , ' well our system does not show which address the package was sent to, you will have to ring the head office' , ' so what? Can anyone sign for a package not just the person it was addressed to?' , ' yes that is correct sir' . Phone call ends, and I'm starting to think well I'm down one turntable, if it can be delivered to the wrong address and a person signs for it and they don't tell anyone that package essentially becomes lost. A few minutes later I got a mobile call from a number I did not recognize, ' hi, is that Shane' , ' yes, that's me' , ' it appears we have revived a package addressed to you'. Thank god I thought. As it turns out the turntable was delivered to a huge Aluminium Refinery about 10 min drive from my place, now this place is huge, and is well know in town, so I could not figure out how a home addressed package would end up at an Aluminium Refinery. What happened was they had a few packages delivered by AAE and mine just got lumped in with them. I'm just lucky that the people in the warehouse section of the refinery were honest, because they could of easily had a new turntable all for themselves. It all got sorted in the end, but not without some nerve racking moments. The funny thing About all this I highly recommended AAE to the member that sold me the table. I told him that I have never had a problem with them, they have always delivered within 3 days (took 4 days) , and are always very reliable, well not this time.

Vortexjah, you were very lucky to have some honest people at the refinery. Glad your TT arrived in the end. On the original post, Amazon have refunded the purchase + freight amount and apologised. That is good customer service. Waiting to see what happens with FEDEX next...
