gainphile Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Lately I notice great stuff being sold in the FS section. Perhaps we can list and discuss them here (as not to pollute their FS thread..) Magnepan 1.7 $1999 MAGNEPLANAR MMG SPEAKERS OAK SIDES 4 MONTHS OLD $740 Magneplanner 3.6 in Cherry $3900 Seas Excel Millennium Tweeters and other drivers$400 ... to buy or not to buy that is my question... MARTIN LOGAN SEQUEL II ELECTROSTATIC SPEAKERS $700 ...! Linkwitz Orions **Seriously Reduced** $4800 !... that's like 1/3 price of AudioArtistry one. And it's Aluminum cabinet 1
hochopeper Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 GP, I'd almost pushed those Orions out of my mind before you reminded me with this post. Please someone buy them, save me from myself.
proftournesol Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 In a thinly disguised bit of self-interested self-promotion, there's also the Avantgarde Solos linked in my signature
gainphile Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 GP, I'd almost pushed those Orions out of my mind before you reminded me with this post. Please someone buy them, save me from myself. I keep looking at them. Crazy isn't it .. I think this is one of the best (if not the best) of Orion build around! But I think the SO will not be as pleased if I have a set of speakers the price of her car
gainphile Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 This is another awesome product: Accuton, Scanspeak drivers, Floorstanding Cabinets.
sfdoddsy Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Well, I've bought two of the items you listed and already resold one of them. So the Bump Thread seems to be working. I must say I do find those Orions awfully enticing though. I hadn't realised how much the price had dropped. Edited September 5, 2012 by sfdoddsy
hochopeper Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 But I think the SO will not be as pleased if I have a set of speakers the price of her car Mine would have similar objections, but because she's taken 18months off working to finish her degree, so I've got single income and a mortgage. I've got plenty of unfinished projects here to keep me occupied, she keeps reminding me about that too!
sean Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Looks like cross posting to me. Guess I am a cross poster then!!!! LOL Here's a bargain, Ray Samuels F117 Nighthawk phono stage: http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/44986-fs-ray-samuels-f117-nighthawk-phono-stage-mmmc-battery-powered/ Edited September 5, 2012 by sean
sean Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Next there'll be cross dressing here! Who said that!!!!!
LogicprObe Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Who said that!!!!! ................kicks off high heels.............. Not me! 1
danter Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I must say I do find those Orions awfully enticing though. I hadn't realised how much the price had dropped. The sad result of the death of the 'bump'. Once listed for a day or so, things now go unnoticed. In the past, most everything I had listed would sell after a bump or two. Now, if it doesn't go in the first few days, its wait a month and relist. God - a hybrid Shanling CD-T80 for only $375!?! Ridiculous bargain! http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/44804-fs-shanling-cd-t80-cdp/ 1

proftournesol Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 The problem with bumping is that with everyone bumping as well as putting up new threads, the volume of traffic was so high that a bumped ad usually slipped off the front page within a day anyway. That then required another bump.....
sean Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Aint gonna bump no more........ Sorry folks, just couldn't help myself!
danter Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 But it worked. I miss it. The classifieds were more vibrant too as tbere was always activity. Now it seems very static. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 2
tktran Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 The death of the bump, yes it's sad. Price negotiable, all proceeds go to charity, yet very few bites...

richard260 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Maybee they should make it your allowed to get your thread bumped once a week
danter Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 No, Marc is pretty adamant on this one. Its been pushed before and shut down pretty quick. His site, his call. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 1
morloch Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 if a seller drops the price, and advises so as a seperate post on his original listing, then that gives the listing a bump in effect. Doesn't it?
