Briz Vegas
I reckon if you want a pair of these or these and are worried about wife acceptance factor or WAF You should leave these pictures lying around. Suddenly your new dream speakers will seem quite reasonable. And yes, it is art of course. (no, its not photo shop, its the real deal) Edited September 2, 2012 by Briz Vegas

Soundscape
Yes, it is art. And it is beautiful and deep, easily exceeding the appearance of those speakers imho. I saw that program last night btw.
Briz Vegas
Does something become less arty if it serves a practical purpose. Consider the lily, I mean, consider the B1 To me this is the violent version straight out of a horror flick. The expendable character has just met an untimely end and the blood is flowing down the contours off the sides of a nearby alien pod and into a pool on the floor. Soon the blood will bring the pod to life. Its a still life from a sci fi splatter flick. I call it Vivid Demise. The artist has used a highly polished surface to represent the surface tension of liquid, in this case blood because its red obviously. I guess if it was a standard spec colour it would have to be something else........................ Ah yes. In this one the artist is commenting on the Exxon Valdez disaster. The egg of a seabird is drenched in oil as it flows over the surface (pity the bird that hatched this egg). I call it Exxon Vivid. I really do love Anish Kapoors stuff above, particularly the one in NZ. The scale is just nuts. Its something that domestic industrial design cannot replicate. Lloyd
Inner city air kiss kiss. Lots of happy green, not many happy humans who are either darkened and look sad, insignificant or non existant. The music blasting out to the grass and trees. Even the carpet is green, and they have green haircuts. Who has green carpet, and if not why not? How lightweight propaganda, which I have come to expect from certain people on SNA. proftournesol
Drum Green tobacco as it happens - not grass, if that is what you are implying (never have partook), I leave that to my other fellow SNA friends. As it is kind on the sinuses, like mint or menthol.. I just found it slightly odd that music in art was not depicted as being appreciated by us mere mortal humanoids but rather by plants. So sue me. Plants may enjoy Yoko Ono, but even then I doubt it. I have a chip on my shoulder - sometimes I listen to music a little bit too loud (legally) and get a knock on the door from my inner city neighbours who say, hey, don't you know how many polar bears you are killing? As I have expressed in no uncertain terms before, I find that many of the axioms of the Greens to be ......... Lloyd, not only is your post off-topic but offensive and factually incorrect. Lloyd
Prof - to quote BV - "Thats why I plonked this in the debate section. Controversy, intellectual sparing. Hot artistic temperaments. Sexual references and adult themes." I was on topic as far as some pics being embellished in greenery. Some may have equated this aspect with part of the female form. If you can't get that then maybe someone else can help you. I know my comment about only plants liking Yoko Ono may have been factually incorrect, and for that I apologize. Some bacteria might also like her music. Unfortunately I missed a couple of things off topic. I have never blasphemed or spoken ill will of people of other religions.or heritages or creeds, sexualitty or skin colour. I have actually never sworn, unless in pretty tame terms. Unless you can call being Green a religion - if I am so mistaken please forgive me at the alter of Gaia. On the other hand, I wish to quote something by a bloke who is gay, an atheist, has been depressed for most of his life, has rarely had few close friends, a keen intellect, and says this. You may have heard of him from TV or his banter on Qi in recent times.. "it's now very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that.' As f that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more....than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning. It has no purpose. It has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well so f*****g what" - Stephen Fry. Edited September 4, 2012 by Lloyd

Lloyd
The thing is when Stephen Fry offends he is witty and is actually saying something of merit And neither does he indulge in the dumbest retorts, however veiled, that of ad hominem. He just calls what they say ridiculous and they all go off for a pint or whatever afterward. People are so "touchy" on this forum! Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted September 4, 2012 Volunteer Share Posted September 4, 2012 Back on topic, I've always felt that the more non-conventional speaker designs (like those avantgarde trios) are more likely to gain wife-approval than traditional box speakers. Over a few years only one person has even been curious enough to listen to them. I guess one person's art is another person's eyesore.

Lloyd
Lloyd, not only is your post off-topic but offensive and factually incorrect. Please edit it, and stick to the topic Hmmm - like loosely designing speakers around the female genitalia and form on two legs is not offensive to females. and making a bit of a double entendre about it - "Does something become less arty if it serves a practical purpose?" - BV . I endorse post #5 if it hasn't already been deleted by the mods. OK. Delete my posts as you wish, as has happened. Double standards by the moderators. Ofend as much as you like, just don't offend us.
