cfcjb Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) I've been listening to him for roughly a decade, and to my mind, he is one of the most under-rated singer/songwriters ever to have put out a record. I don't really want to get overly descriptive about his music, other than to say that stylistically, he straddles soul, folk and jazz. The man has the voice of an angel. Beth Orton once said that she listened only to TC's records for an entire year. I can understand that, because once you are under his spell, all you want to do is hear that voice and listen to those wonderful lyrics, over and over again. Here are a few recommendations for those who may be interested in sampling his recorded work. 1.What Color is love 2. Occasional Rain 3. I Just Can't Help Myself Edited September 2, 2012 by cfcjb
soundfan Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) I have Time Peace on CD. His guest vocal on Beth Ortons Central Reservations album is excellent. Actually, it was that disc that put me on to him in the first place. Edited September 2, 2012 by soundfan
cfcjb Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) Hey Soundfan. I want to think that "Time Peace" was the first Terry Callier CD I bought. It was his first album back after an almost 20 year hiatus. It has some seriously lovely tunes. His cover of "Love theme from Spartacus" ( with his own lyrics) is an absolute knock out. If you haven't heard the three albums I posted above, I seriously urge you to give them a listen. They were produced at the height of his career in the early 70s, and are all truly outstanding. While "Time Peace" is wonderful, those three albums are full blown classics. Edited September 2, 2012 by cfcjb
