Jake Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 A new series has been filmed and is being broadcast OS, not sure how long before we get to see it here in the colonies. Can't wait! http://youtu.be/R7opdzX_4kE 4
ochremoon Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Smegging heck! Great news. Thanks for the heads up.
Ralph Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Please, please, please, please, please, let it be the smeg opposite of the "Back to Earth" series. 1
Upfront Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 And nothing like the American Pilot! They ruin everything good.
nzdans Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Well smoke me a kipper! I've always found Red Dwarf's marginal utility to be better than pretty much anything I've ever watched, the last series was losing it for sure but still worth a chuckle or five. Looking forward to more.
ThirdDrawerDown Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Great news! [insert Triple Rimmer salute here]
emesbee Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Tonight, eh? Will be setting the recorder for that. (I still chuckle over Kryten and his groinal socket!)
Jake Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 The new series is as good as the old stuff. I've seen the first 5 episodes I think.
Catostylus Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 The new series is as good as the old stuff. I've seen the first 5 episodes I think. Joyous tidings!
Ralph Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 The new series is as good as the old stuff. I've seen the first 5 episodes I think. Don't give us any future echoes then...
Makka Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Seriously disappointed with that. Looked like a lot of old guys reading their lines. Timing off and a lot of dumb jokes., though still a few good ones. Maybe it's just me, but I won't be watching any more.

Timing off and a lot of dumb jokes., though still a few good ones. Maybe it's just me, but I won't be watching any more. Wow, hard to please! I thought the first episode was as good as the old and pi**es all over most of the shows today that pass for comedy. 1
Ralph Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 ... Maybe it's just me, but I won't be watching any more. I think it might just be you ... sure you're not Swedish ? I enjoyed it. It's like the early series (without having to to rely on nanobots and alternate realities). Sure the guys had filled out a bit, but I'm surprised they were able to look so similar after 20 years. ( Fair enough - Kryton will always look like Kryton! ) RalphH
Jake Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 The jokes seemed a little forced, but I think that is a victim of time. The jokes were no more forced than they ever were, only now we expect perfection plus years later. If you can divorce yourself from the reality of time and sit back and enjoy the show you will find it takes off exactly where it left off. I don't know of any other show to have pulled this off, but Red Dwarf has. 4 stars. 1
ThirdDrawerDown Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Drat our pvr chose this moment to spit the dummy. Feel free to send me a pm of commisserations.
Milo Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 The missus likes Red Dwarf - the Cat character particularly. Kryten the robot gives me a laugh! The episodes where they came back to earth and met the writer were also very funny. A standout episode for us was the one about the 'everything-happens-backwards' planet; it was hilarious. On the backwards planet the Cat has a very disturbing experience in this scene....ROTFL!
Al Leece Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Well, I thought it was definitely good for a giggle or three. Less forced than the "Back To Earth" series, although Kryten was a little less than his best - more like he was when first found by the guys. As has already been noted, better than a lot of stuff on the box currently. Worth a viewing; 3.5 stars.
emesbee Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Got around to watching it last night. Not bad, I see they've kept the format and characters pretty much the same. To be honest, I always thought the earlier series was a bit hit or miss. Some episodes just didn't work for me, but others I found hilarious (yes, the 'everything running backwards' episode cracked me up too!). Bit too early to form a definite opinion on this latest series. I really need to see more episodes first.
DoggieHowser Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Wait till you get to the time travel episode:)
