evil c Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Item: Meridian 101 Pre amplifier Location: Melbourne Price: $200 Item Condition: 8/10 Reason for selling: Too much stuff Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info This is the first Pre- amplifier Meridian produced in the late 70's & was legendary in combo with the 105 power amplifiers. This unit has DIN inputs which I will provide DIN to RCA leads N/C for compatibility with any amplifier/ source. The Phono input has 2 RCA sockets & earth connector. You could also use this pre-amp exclusively as a great quality Phono Pre-amp as I have done. It was serviced & given the thumbs up in 2009 I am happy to demo the unit if required & will post with an additional fee at cost.
Gruffnutz Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I think you bought that from me back a few years. Picked up from Richmond? The phono stage is excellent.
evil c Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Actually purchased it from the U.K. as pretty rare here. Yes, the sound is fantastic through the phono stage, with the 2 power amps they sold together when new for $2500 in 1977!!
Gruffnutz Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Actually purchased it from the U.K. as pretty rare here. That's why I thought it might have been my old one. Never seen another in Oz. Even the positioning of the orange dot is similar. Good luck! Worth every penny.
rantan Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I owned this pre and power combination back in the day. It did indeed have a great phono section. I bought mine wholesale from a now defunct audio dealer in Sydney. good memories of nice gear

As luck would have it 5 years ago a friend aquired the 101/105 amps but they were tired & I took pity at their condition & "generously" took them off his hands at a fairly reasonable price( I thought). After finding one of the few specialists in Australia recommended to me I expended around $1200 total , with a few hiccups along the way to have them re-capped & restored to original condition It ultimately was a memorable audio journey hip pocket wise but worth the experience! Now sold to Didier.
