Daemos Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Item: Fostex T50RP Orthodynamic Headphones (Modded) Location: Bendigo, VIC Price: $150 (negotiable) Item Condition: Good Condtiion Reason for selling: Have a pair of Hifiman HE-6 Headphones...they sound very similar so no need for two pairs of similar sounding headphones Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Direct Deposit, Paypal Extra Info: I purchased these at the start of the year as I've heard modded T50RP headphones sound very close to top teir orthodynamics. I cannot say they are wrong, they sound VERY close to my HE-6, but overall I still perfer the HE-6, so these are up for sale. Modifications are: Hard wiring directly to each driver terminating into a balanced 4-pin XLR connector (I am willing to reterminate this into a 1/4 in jack if perfered no extra cost). Response Super Sound Deadener Acoustic Fiberglass Insulation Cotton wool Middle Headband Shure 840 pads (modded to be angled) (one has a slight tear in it) (pictures included) The only other mention is the previous owner of the headphones cut into the stock band to mount a Smyth SVS Realiser reciever. You can read up on Various internet forums for what the modifications bring, but I can say the modifications have really transformed the T50RP, which in stock form don't sound bad, but are very very far away from the HE-6, these sound closer to the HE-6 but are not as bright, and have less sibilance. Compared to a stock T50RP, Bass response is much better, clarity is much improved, overall sound signature is Neutral to neutral-warm I would say, soundstage is better.
