edit reason: Sorry, you're right. Correct model number is RC-995, not 991 (confusing that with the power amp)

wow. generous for sale/dontation model you're on to here. nice work.

If you're looking for other charities to add to the short list then here's a suggestion: http://familiamoja.org/ . A mate set it up a few years ago and it's been really successful so far. You won't find a charity where a higher % of your donated $ actually makes it to the people in need.

thinking about the power amp...but just thinking at this stage. any idea what postage to melb might be?

No idea. I suspect around $50, IF, Aus Post will take it (box dimension may be limiting factor)

As for the sales model- I spend a small fortune on audio. Like other good audiophiles, if I sell it, I'm sure to spend it on some other gadget. I mean, sure, everyone is allowed to have an interest/hobby, but one out of seven people on this Earth live on less than $1 a day.

The charities I give to can be found on www.givewell.org

"GiveWell is an independent, nonprofit charity evaluator. We find outstanding giving opportunities and publish the full details of our analysis to help donors decide where to give.

Unlike other charity evaluators, which focus solely on financials (assessing administrative or fundraising costs), we focus on how well programs actually work – i.e., their effects on the people they serve."
