twwen2 Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 (edited) Item: Musical Fidelity A3CR dual mono power amplifier Location: Clayton, Melbourne Price: $850 $799 pickup or buyer pays postage (approx $30-40 Australia-wide) Item Condition: Fantastic, see pics below. A couple of tiny pits in the front panel. Reason for selling: Replaced by Creek Destiny integrated which is better suited to my current needs Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Deposit Extra Info: I bought this from another SNA member about a month back and it is one impressive beast. It's bloody heavy, and sure packs a punch. 120W into 8R and 210W in 4R in a high-current design will make most speakers sing; it certainly brought a few of my standmounters to life (ATC's anyone?). Deep, hard and clean bass is the standout feature here - I've not heard anything quite like it before. Mids are nice and open - when I installed this in my system all my music sounded a bit more "live". Treble response is sweet and well controlled. The A3CR features choke regulation on each channel, a feature common only to MF's high-end designs. The Nu-Vista speaker binding posts also hint that this was indeed designed as a top-notch component in MF's lineup at the time. It didn't come with a box, so my preference is obviously for pick-up (but I could potentially package it for shipping). I'm selling this at the same price I paid a month back, so please no silly offers. Pics: Edited September 11, 2012 by twwen2
twwen2 Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 I've since looked into shipping costs, and if I can package the amp sufficiently for safe shipping, the cost shouldn't be too bad at all.
arrow224 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Registering potential interest, just a question first though: does this have input-sensing? IE, when set to on, does it turn off by itself after a period of time? Does it 'auto-wake' when a signal is present?
twwen2 Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 To be honest I've never heard of an amp that has that feature. So to answer the question, no. If the amp is on, it's on.
twwen2 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Withdrawn for now - this thing just sounds too good with my Dynaudio's!
