Not a trolling question but its rather interesting that the Japanese brands such as Onkyo,Denon .Pioneer etc has made a lot of headway - is there a reason why I don't see Korean brands in the same AVR space?

- Also any opinions on some of the British brands such as Cambridge Audio - do they use less technology? and therefore less effective i terms of image or audio.

I think the main differences between them (Jap vs the rest) is : availabilities of various ranges from the very cheap to the expensive models.

The next should be the refresh rate: Japs is about 1-1.5 years & therefore will always have the latest formats/technologies & etc ....

For me,  Jap brands and models generally have wider range to choose from and usually cost less.  Technology also moving very fast and up to date.  Can expect new model every year.

On the other hand,  after sales service is hassle free as they usually have local agent and service centre:).

Hi bro,

Mind to share the damage ( including shipping) for your Sherbourne?

Thank in advance

Sherbourne SR8001 is USD799. Shipping should be between 150-200USD, depending on the size and weight and which courier company, but shouldn't deviate too far from that amount. And of cos, the 7% GST when reach SG.

I actually bought 2 units, if u r keen, u can have 1 of them when they reach. Will be putting that one up for sale by then.

For me, there are certain things that I am worried about:

HDMI handshaking and compatibility.

I've seen/heard enough stories to be wary of smaller/niche players where they don't have as big an engineering team to debug/troubleshoot these problems. And they aren't trivial.

Onkyo/Denon/Marantz et al have sufficiently large number of models which shares very similar code base for the HDMI engine. Plus their models tend to be derived from previous years so the bugs tend to be well sorted out. IMHO
