FANCY THAT NOBODY THOUGHT TO DIG AROUND THEM BEFORE NOW!

Who knew?  Easter Island Statues have bodies. The Stone Statues in Easter Island have bodies! This is absolutely incredible.

Here we've been thinking for all these years that they were just  heads.  They are going to be absolutely huge when they are completely excavated.

It all just adds to the mystery of these amazing sculptures. Maybe now they can get more information about them seeing as they have writings on them.

These pictures are really cool, and absolutely fascinating, (and we still want to know how those things got there!)

Bro, since u are interested in this, do try watching History channel's 'Ancient Aliens'. Many experts believe that these statues were made by man, BUT with the technological help of ancient astronauts who visited earth a long time ago :)

Interesting post, didn't realise they had begun excavating below the heads.

From what I recall, the civilization that built them was quite advanced but secluded from the rest of the world and so were self sufficient. However one of the theories is that they couldn't sustain themselves either due to lack of new genetic material coming in or they exhausted their natural resources.

First season was very good and fascinating. After that, things are so far-fetched I gave up watching

Haven't seen the series, but these programmes tend to present theories in a convincing matter, true or not who knows? Saw one which connected the Egyptian pyramid formations with the stars and to the Cambodian temples!

Actually, you can see the moai of Easter Island at various ahu. There you can see the "full body", because that is the real full product. The pics are from the moai quarry at Rano Raraku, hence the "incomplete" look.

An example of what the moai look in a more complete moai is at:

Used to watch ancient aliens on history HD.

And catch up missed episodes on YouTube.

When youtube audio streamed into the Mytek dac, omg, the dynamics and soundstaging is awesome!

But from season 5 episode 4 onwards, all YouTube videos have been deleted.
