Guest CASH Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 internal photo's of the blown PSX-R. ??? :P :'(
malsound Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 The fuse did not blow in time ? BTW are those original fuse.
Guest CASH Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 i think its original fuse. bought it 2nd hand. its not the new gen PSX-R, by the way. sad to see it go up in smoke....
calfie Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Cash, I think I spotted the faulty components, check the DIP8 ic neighbouring the 3 green caps. do check if its blown up.
Guest CASH Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 i think its the cable ( Brown n Blue ) that i am pointing at in the pic that caused it to blow. i can see burnt stuff like paper in it.
Guest CASH Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Calfie thanks for your help. but now me gotta get ready to go to Paris, France. leavin my place in 1 hours time. in paris i will log on again to check on any updates. thanks once again guys! cheers!! ;D :D ;) :)
Guest CASH Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 oh yes! i forgot! i will be back in singapore on the 18th. 4 days time! cheers!
marshal Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 If i am not mistaken, the component you are pointing is a suppression cap. It is used to clean the incoming AC voltage.
wizardofoz Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Looks like 68nF cap...probably just broke down internally. Can remove it no issues, and or replace...koba canfind you one easily, but if the are more than one then replace them all
Eric Teh Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Looks like an encapsulated suppression cap (Rifa ?) I thought that would be x rated and fail open ? I think the transformer may have some issue, failed, and took out the cap too.
Guest CASH Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Wow! In paris now. Its cold but a relatively bright n sunny day. How much would the repair cost, if I chose to repair it, guys? Estimated???
wizardofoz Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 The cap is a few $ only...if thats all thats wrong with it
Guest CASH Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Correct me if i am wrong, but the transformer plastic cover should actually Be transparent to show the copper windings right? As from my pics the transformer is whitish in color already. So should i take tat into account too? Sorry for the noob questions.
wizardofoz Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Maybe or maybe not... Google it and look at the images
Guest CASH Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Thks for all the effort in troubleshooting this cyrus. Guess i only can do this steps when i am back on the 18th. Thks once again guys!!! Cheers!!!
Guest CASH Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 OMG!!!! my pxs-r, i think is back to life!! jus took out those pieces of burnt paper, n now it work's!!?? red light, green light... all working. what the hell??? hope it doesnt blow up again... ;D
econav Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 To ensure also the caps leads are secure , else you would be shorting the Live and Neutral 8)
Guest CASH Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 now my cyrus psx-r is in the hands of "calfie", a member here in xtremeplace. he is taking a look at it n will replace those parts that need to be replaced. he jus repaired n returned my class "D" amp for my paradigm sub. he drove all the way from his home in woodlands to my place in pasir ris. cost of the repair for my sub was $150 inclusive of parts ,labour n transport. sub is alive n kicking now!!! :D
Pismo Mac Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 OK, mine just spouted smoke as well, smelt like burnt paper. Switched off everything, took apart the cover, couldn't see any burnt parts. Put everything back, plugged in and it is working again. Any suggestions?
Guest CASH Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 contact bro Calfie!!! he brought my psx-r back alive after goin up in smoke!
Guest CASH Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 uh.... if you r wondering where r the pictures... i had to save space on my photobucket account... had to delete it all... sorry... :-[
Pismo Mac Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I am just wondering what could have gone wrong. It is still working, not dead yet. Obviously, something burnt but I can't seem to find the burnt portion with my untrained eye. Maybe you can PM me what happened to yours and what you did, or put it here for the benefit of others?
Guest CASH Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Calfie changed some stuff in there.. too technical for me.. i will ask calfie to post here on what he changed.
Guest CASH Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I jus whatsapp calfie. Hope he post his findings here soon enough.
