Tiagasian Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Thanks Bro Tiagasong help me to open up the tweeter and found out the coil open circuit Need some expert hand to rewire and installed back the coil, this guy must be able to determine the number of turns also cos it affect the sound, any suggestions
DIYer Straits Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 What tweeter is this? You can find replacements if it is a Vifa/Scanspeak, Seas, Audax, Morel or a Peerless. The actual coil is done by machines at very high tolerances, recoiling is not an option. You can replace the entire voicecoil though and reglue it to the diaphragm BUT a lot of other variables will come into play to mess it up.
Tiagasian Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 Yamaha Ns1000 , spare not easy price sky high :( After looking at the coil, think the local rewinding workshop should be able to do the job but unfortunnately the smaller rewinding workshop has closed shop due to lack of demand and the bigger one only interested in big project
wizardofoz Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I have repaired ns1000 tweeter before but but is not without issue depending on where the break is. One or 2 turns removed if the break is at the link to the terminal is no problem. But the work is delicate and time consuming. Work cannot be guaranteed wont happen again and these drivers are very sensitive to being overdriven... Assuming you mean ns1000m monitors.
Tiagasian Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 Yup its the NS1000m mine the break look like its in the middle that's difficult to solder
wizardofoz Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 You need good well lit magnification and very good soldering skills, if the break is inside the actual coil windings the its unlikely you will be able to repair. Try to find a good replacement online, but cost will be very high. These speakers in good condition quite rare now... Was considering if i should sell mine as parts or complete working units...either way 3k or more is possible i think as a complete working set.
dBu Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I think is very hard to repair, why don't get a new one from eBay? http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=NS1000m&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=NS1000m+tweeter&_sacat=0 Cheers! dBu
Tiagasian Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 Thanks all for the advices , think i will bring down to Tai Cheong or Martin and see whether they have the kungfu to repair this. Just to confirm the coil is made of copper , cos someone told me it is made of copper clad aluminium
freeworld2000 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Let us know whether you manage to get it repair
