Hi Guys

Check out this truly AWESOME comparison of USB converters:

http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/15-usb-spdif-converters-shootout-15327/#post211159

I too have had the opportunity to compare many of the converters with an extra one - the Wavelength.

My results generally mirror what they found (eg I give the AP the edge over the JK) with a few exceptions.

I have demoed the OR compared to the AP2 on quite a few occasions in a number of systems - on every occasion without exception everyone preferred the OR - no contest. But it was split 50-50 whether the difference was worth the price difference. Value for money nothing touches the AP2 in my experience and its what I generally recommend to others if money is an issue - and it seems they found the same thing.

The other is the Berkeley. Sorry couldn't rank it as high as they did - very good - but only third on my list behind the Wavelength and Off-Ramp (OR) although it was so close to the Wavelength you could reasonably call it a tie. That said I have been told with direct mode in Audirvana the Berkeley pulls ahead and even the AP2 is excruciatingly close to the OR.

Thanks

Bill

Interesting because a friend on the forum borrowed my Legato 2 and said the AP2 with PP loses by quite a large margin.

Hence I never bothered testing that..

Very interesting indeed! Like everything else, implementation is key, not just parts.
