Just to share my horrible experience with my purchase from the COURTS just recently...

The problem started when my old Sharp TV dead after 6 years of service... after hunting for a replacement for a week, saw news paper of the EXpo mega sale by COURTS in the month of Jan'13.. so decided to head down there to take a look whether is there any good deal..

After check vary brands, saw the Philips seem to have good PQ and price also look attractive..on top, it stated that it made in Europe. So decided to hoot this brand and set the delivery date on 25th Jan'13..

On the day of delivery, took one day leave and awaiting for the TV to come. The TV delivery on the dot and check the box condition and everything seem to be in order. They open up the set and plug in the power plug, no power..no image..nothing. I ask them to tried another power cable..same problem, nothing on it..so..I told them..I must be very lucky to get a D.O.A TV.. This is the first time I received a D.O.A good with so many years of purchasing electronic equipments.

They told me.they can not return the TV as they need to inform their HQ about it...and ask me to call COURTS about my problem..

well after many kpkb..they finally accept to send another new replacement within the next two days...and plus S$100 gift f.o.c...

Well, after receiving the replacement TV...I thought finally I can enjoy the TV without any worry...well my happiness did not last long...just last week, the replacement TV having problem again..it just auto off and on irregardless of any source I used...fed up..call the Philips about the issue and they send their men down the next day to check what is the problem...and now come to the best part...the Philips tech who came down and after checking...he said he know what is the problem but there is no solution yet..the work around is to disable that function if you want to watch TV..I told him..this is not acceptable....how can you ask me to accept something like this..he then advise me to talk to COURTS for any arrangement and he just wrote down what his finding on the repair note..now my emotion when up super high...call COURTS and ask them what are they doing and demand a replacement of another brand of TV as I have already lost hope with Philips. They agree and ask me to come down to re-select another brand...

So two days later, I choose a Panasonic TV and the COURTS ensure that they are following up with my case and they want to make everything goes well and in order.. so I give them another chance...and today..the TV suppose to deliver..and it did deliver..but ..this is the TV that I received..see photo..

What do you think..is it a new set, used set, display set...etc?

When they deliver, I saw the box is like very old and not fully factory sealed..I begain to suspect..this TV might not be new..I ask the delivery man, he told me is a new set...only when they open up..i saw the forms were all like very bad shape or conditions..I know something is not right..only when they remove the TV from the box...and I saw the damage..I ask them..can you explain? They silence and ask me whether want to accept..? I ask them..what do you think? They call their supervisor that customer reject due to faulty TV..they ask me to keep the rest of free gifts..I told them..please bring back everything..I going to ask for full refund + case...

So those who going to buy from COURTS..do take note!!! I have heard lots of stories about COURTS..most of it I doubt it until I had experience not once but...three times..

Lucky Lemon law ....but guess i have enough of it..from the same store..

Enough is Enough!!!!

Sorry to hear about this.

wow, looks terrible!

My guess is that it was another customer return set that they're trying to offload to any sucker meek enough to keep quiet and accept it.

I got 3 TV from the same courts all no problems at all...2 for me one for my BIL ... 50" was delivered...I installed it OK... other 2 42" sets C&C again all no issue.

Got my full cash refund after much asking and kpkb..initially they still prefer me to accept another brand or they re-deliver another set..the cSO ask me to give them another chance to serve me.. I keep telling  her ..nope ..i want refund and not more TV from you ..

She said refund will be in gift card..i told her..I only accept cash and nothing else...and the cash to be ready by tonight.

the best part is she still explain to me that the TV set is new and they don't know why it was dented..after hearing this..my tempo go high..trying to smoke me..

Went there a while ago to collect the refund..the cashier took out the money..and just nice there some customers behind me on the Q to pay for their purchase..they saw me collecting the money and sign the refund slip..one of them look very surprise..think he think..what happen..

U may consider getting yr tv from Gain City. So far have bought from them: split air-cons, fridge, washing machine, electric water boiler, slow cooker, stand fans etc. Only thing which I have not bought from GC, is my tv which I have it bought from Best Denki.

None of the above been purchased from Gain City have given me any problem.

Gain City do not have any hp scheme. All is by cash or card. So they will not be able to sell someone a repossess unit.

I also learnt from their salesman that should u buy a new product, they will not replace it with their store's display set. Unless if one opts to buy a display set, perhaps at a slightly discounted price against a new set. Try to get from their main branch at AMK Industrial Park 2.

me: "Yes, speaking.."

Courts CSO:"Sir, we are sorry for all the troubles and unhappiness that youhave experience during your purchase of the TV with us. As such, we like to offer you a S$50 gift card as a token of our apology. How you want to collect the card? self collect or by post?"

I have been buying fm Iberna Pacific located at Loyang Point. Am not sure if they are the cheapest for everything but on the occasions that I looked around, couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else except for those fair ads that may be for 1st xxx, while stocks last etc. Over the years, have bought fridge, washer, tv, jetspray, heater...

I thought those neighbor hood shop normally does not carry new model?

Anyway, congrats to TS for getting your full refund.

whatever court or havy horman got sell, they got sell too....only different is they dont have a show room to let you see the actually thing.

Usaully I go showroom in shopping center check/see the item and decide I want to buy, than ask the neighbourhood shop quote me the price of that item, 10 out out 10 time neighbourhood shop is cheaper...

Thank you Joamonte.  8)

Will keep the neighborhood store in mind.

Don't think I will buy any expensive items in Courts.

During those early days... i think Courts is the 1st to introduce monthly installment and I often heard courts use to collect back those furniture and electrical appliance because user fail to pay for the installment and all these items were repackage and back to sale.

Well, give the Courts CSO a break, he/she was just doing his/her job and trying to keep you happy.  Admittedly if I were in your shoes, I'd never trust them ever again, although I might not be so magnanimous and might take the NTUC vouchers just for the hell of it...

Hi Gaolow,

I am curious after those unsuccessful attempts by Courts to win you over, what else could they have done to win you over again?

I am curious from the point of customer satisfaction.  In Singapore, I would say 95% of retailers "compensate" with vouchers, discounts, free gifts...  items with a monetary value tagged to it.  And majority of Singaporeans seeing "a form of money" dangling in front of their eyes will bite it.  In these cases, there will be a tacit agreement that "customer is happy again, and retailer has successfully retained a customer".

For your case, you have a firm stance and I just wonder what "non-monetary" items could have been offered to change your view to that of "Ah Ok, Courts made a mistake this time, and I will forgive them once".

;)

How they can change my view...?? it not an item/good/ or anything that is tangable..be it monetary or not.... it very simple.. you should able to figure out..
